Legends Of Illarion will be released on: April 9th, 2009

Progress has been good on the game lately, and now I've finished scripting out some scenes near the end of the game that I've been putting off for a while. It's always been tedious and hard to get myself to finish putting the main plot elements from my head into actual dialouges and cutscenes. Now that I've gotten them out of the way, I can finally work on the final dungeons and finishing some of the little features and impliments. Most recently I just finished an important flashback cutscene about the gods.
Speaking of which, I've already mentioned this briefly elsewhere in the off-topic post a few years ago, but just for the official record, I have been working on a plot inside my head for Legends Of Illarion 2, the prequel about the Younger Gods. However, it is doubtful if I can ever actually make that game.
The story begins when the world was only centuries old, following the untold friendships and travails of Moshran and the others before they became the Younger Gods, as they battle against a foe that threatened Illarion in early times. The story will take you all the way through to their selection to become Younger Gods, their battles against Madrook's demon armies, and the defeat and imprisonment of Moshran.
I've been working on the details in my head over the last few years, while physically working to finish Legends Of Illarion 1 of course, even though my mind has long since become more interested the prequel. However, the last half of Legends Of Illarion does take a bigger focus on the gods and is highly related to the plot of the prequel, so one must play through Legends of Illarion first before they can fully appreciate the prequel.
Anyways, now I must get back to working on the final areas and a few short god-themed side missions.

I would say that if you're making this great game, and really want it to be great, then don't take some parts for granted, or ignore some parts. Puzzles are okay, they're part of the game. But I don't know about those animations. I'm not sure if it could give the feeling "Oh wow, this is great! Greaat! Wait..huh? Default aniomations?", which wouldn't be too good. But if you lack the resources, then there's no other choice.

how long do you figure the game is? I cant play it on linuxps3 ;_;Dyluck wrote:Alright, I have just finished all new charsets for the main characters and I'm going to make the battlechars for them. I've worked for almost 5 years and now I'm so close, so I guess I can't cheap out on the battle graphics.
The game is roughly twice as long as the last demo a few years back. So I'd say that would be a total of minimum 15 hours and maximum 25 hours. Oh wait, if you mean file size, I'm sure it'll be only between 30mb to 50mb.
In other news, I've finished the battlechars, which was actually much less difficult than I had always thought. Also, I've just started working on battle animations for spells since yesterday and I've just discovered it's SO easy once I understood my tools! Now I don't have to use crappy default RTP battle animations anymore, so LOI's biggest eyesores have just become one of LOI's strengths. Game just got 5x better. Kick ass.
