A Few Proposals...

Post by Bumbol Woodstock »

I have a bunch of proposals I've gathered over the couple of months I've played this game, some are new and some are recycled... Here they are.

Farming- As we all know farming aka "peasantry" is a very fun skill to use as you farm are talk. however there are only 2 crops, I am sure that there will be many more crops coming, but here are a few crops i think would be useful: Tobacco (get into later), Apple Trees, Grape Vines, Potatoes, Onions, Strawberries. Puting in these will bring cooking and farming closer together and would make more people farmers and more people cookers.

Smoking and Drinking- If we are to be able to grow tobacco of course we will be able to smoke! However, smoking is obviously bad for your health, as if drinking. Lets say the people upstairs made smoking and drinking a skill, but not one you wouldn't to get red. So like, when you start the game you have it in "Other Skills" and it doesn't have any red in it. But then when you smoke/drink it will start to get red. And once it starts getting very red you start losing health. Of course drinking won't be as bad as smoking so you could drink more then you smoke. Maybe even while your smoking there would be a little smoke cloud above your character, or maybe even if your character had been drinking a lot and was drunk it would walk slanted. This would just be implemented to make this a bit more realistic.

Towns- Is Trollsbane getting a bit to small for you? Want to go somewhere where there aren't as many bothersome people? I know sometimes I feel like I want to go off out into the wild, but what for? There is no real reason to go off into the wild unless you want to train, so there should be another town/s outside of Trollsbane. Lets say Trollsbane is just the starting town where beginners started and were safe except for the occasional orc attack, but they were relatively safe. Now think of two towns, they are in constant war against each other. One was made by regular players, the other is just a NCP town full of trolls. Wouldn't it be exciting? Trolls attacking in swarms every few days? Everyone would join together to hold the certain and occasionally lose the town and fight to gain it back? If this was ever implemented I know this game would be a lot more enjoyable.

Messengers- Another problem for me is finding a friend I want to meet. Obviously we can't do what Runescape does and just let players talk to each "magically", more realistically I think is to have messenger birds. This birds you could perchase (spelling?) from a new NCP that of course sold birds. There could be 5 different types of birds each faster then the other. the slowest one could be say 1 ingot, the second could be 2 and so one. The slowest bird would take say 5 minutes to get the message to your friend and the fastest would take 1 minute. To send a message you would need a "quill" and "scroll", you would use them you use a hammer and iron, then you would type what you wanted to say and let your bird go. This would help people keep track of each other and if ever it would be very useful in war time.

I think that is all my ideas, fill free to comment on these.

what would you make the paper out of? maybe we could use coal to write with, charcoal pencils are quite common even today.we dont have anywhere to get feathers from at the moment if you wanted a quill, i suppose you could make a pen.

Lack of interesting crops have been discussed, and paper has also, just try looking in te graphics section.

Must agree though there arent enough different types of plants to grow.

I really like this town idea
2towns = occasional fight = competition = items broken = more trade = more Money = better business = $$$$$$$$$

@ Kringin: There is a planned world map. So there will be more than one town for each race. If you want email me asking for a copy of the map and I'll send it to you. My email adress is aclanham@charter.net

About the messenger birds.
Players could act as messengers. They would have a hard time finding them but i guess its a proffesion

Nah, thats ok Sevious. But my analogy is true :D

You could have a mage spell that magically sends the message to that person. You dont need a messenger.

We need some way that both mages and non-mages can use it because it would give the mages yet another advantage.

Yet another advantage???

Mages are hardly more advantaged than any other means of fighting, if at all. A typical mage character just plain sucks when it comes to physical combat. Therefore, mages cannot sustain as much damage as warriors can. Sure, mages DO have long range, but so do archers and any warrior should know how to use a bow, in my opinion.

Well, if we could write, we could just leave a message for someone at the tavern. The other person could pick it up whenever they came by the tavern. Of course, since the owners can't be on all the time, an NPC would need to be placed in the game so that someone could get their message regardless of whether or not the owners are online. I think NPCs are hard to put into the game right now, so that's not likely. Maybe at a later date though.

I don't really like messenger pigeon idea as you are presenting it. I think messenger pigeons should be reserved for contact between towns, when we finally get a variety of towns. A messanging system isn't neccessary right now, I think, because the island is so small. After all, it only takes 2-3 minutes to get anywhere on the island. That's almost as fast as your fastest messanger pigeon, and almost twice as fast as your slowest. Why not just walk around and yell, to look for your friends?

well, lets say your in the tavern and your friend is somewhere on Illarion, but you don;t know where, Illarion is a lot bigger then you think and 2-3minutes isn't a real e.t.a because it takes me a long while to get through teh forests and the forests are very vast and numerous. Besides I never said they were pigeons, i was thinking more of Hawks/flacons/condors/crows, pigeons are just rats with wings.

What does anyone think of the smoking/drinking suggestion?

about the messages,
You could pay a mage to send the message for you.
This is a good way for mages to make money.

mages don't need money, besides, then they would be the ones making all the money. Maybe a tax for every message you send on the birds would be good to make it not common to send a message all the time.

Oh yeah, mages dont need money. Just like how armorers dont need money, warriors dont need money, farmers dont need money, tailors dont need money, bakers dont need money, goldsmiths dont need money, carpenters dont need money, archers dont need money, druids dont need money, etc etc etc.

I think you misunderstood me Cain. I ment or at least i mean now, that mages wouldn't have to get an actually job, they would instead just make a nice profit off of messageing for people.

Messaging isnt that profitable, if a mage charged too much for the person's liking, the person would just deliver a message on their own.

So what?
If I charge too much for a shovel, certainly the person is going to get it from somewhere else.
