A Plan for Troll's Bane

Post by Fooser »

Greetings,

I have returned from my vacation, laying on the beaches of Gobaith, inhaling sibanac smoke, in the company of elven females, and I have come back to find both good and startling developments. At first, I had to check if I was still on the influence of the leaf, but to my surprise, sober and awake, there are individuals promising to do stuff for the town, but they "won't tell you what until you elect them" .. it's quite bizarre.

Yet at the same time, much has changed in my absence, which provides for new limitations, but also great opportunity. Troll's Bane as town, might need to re-evaluate its goals, and purpose on the island -- a new direction that could be both more humble, yet more prosperous.

I will not throw out generalized ideas, about how I will better something, without saying how, or give mysterious statements about how I can "stabilize" the town (no, I won't take the towns trouble people, and put them into the high ranks of the guards), just a direct and simple plan for where we can go in the next year.

1) New Private Housing / Buildings
It is a shame that so many are in lesser housing arrangements as of now, and I think focusing on private homes that citizens can buy will both make their situation better, and the towns. This can be done by a plan I call "reusable funds construction", and would work something like this:
-With the builders blessing, the town pays for a few houses (let's say 5), and to simplify the math, we'll say it costs 1000 silver total.
-The homes get built, and the towns sells them to whoever pays first, each house 200 silver each.
-Buyers end up with their own private home, to be tweaked and expanded to their desire -- and the town builds houses theoretically, without losing a single coin out of the treasury after re-selling.
-With the town treasury back to where it was, more building can be done, or it could be spent elsewhere.

It could look something like this, but the location and logistics could easily change:

It is an ambitious plan, and I would hope it would be possible to do.

2) Hire volunteers, and pay them a small salary, to those who will plan, organize, and run events to be held in Troll's Bane -- perhaps one per week, or maybe more.

3) Continue guard payments, and give incentives like armor sets, as I did last time. I am unsure if this will help, but it can't really hurt either.

4) Continue strong diplomatic and trading relations with Troll's Banes friends -- such as Goldburg.

5) No more obscure policies of leaving people off the citizen list, without a word of reason.

I don't have miracle answers for everyones problems, but it's a start, and the next year in Troll's Bane could be critical for the towns success. I believe I can bring the much needed experience and unbiased approach to towns affairs, I answer to no one, and take part in no group besides being a citizen of Troll's Bane.

You will alter their state of mind so they vote for you Fooser? Seems a sibanac smoker is a poor choice for governor.
