Just as the title says, I think it's rather odd that only one person can use the static tool the furnace at once. Multiple people should be able to use the tool at once. It becomes a hassle to have to wait for a inexperienced smither to finish up smelting his ingots.
Of course, I haven't tested the smithing system in a while but I remember this being one of the biggest flaws in it when I did.

Even for an expereinced smith, two people at one furnace trying to smelt iron ore into a refined ingot at the same time would be unbeleivably dangerous. Not to mention the mix ups if one was melting copper while one melted iron. I can't see this really...but then again, I"m no black smith...more of a grey smith really...
