Dear players,
recently, I made up my mind about the default attribute configurations one can chose in the account system while creating a new character. I found serveral minor deviations from what I'd suspect to be a fitting default configuration of the given classes. Here are the changes I consider reasonable:
Please take a look at the changes and make up & post ideas of your own how to change the attribute configuration. As usually, do not write what you would not do in case you disagree with another poster but write what you'd do instead (and maybe why). Two notes: Realism must not be an argument and do not "max out" the "perfect" sets. The configurations shall give new players an idea which attributes are important and which aren't, maxed out characters are not recommended anyway for Illarion changes every day. So no "max INT for fighters, drop WIL, it has no use currently", please. Think about the archetypes of classical RPGs and the attributes that might fit those roles.
Note: All values are given for humans, for non human races, racial boni/mali apply
its my opinion that a miner should have slightly more agility since they would be accustomed to moving heavy loads over uneven terrain, plus a critically low intelligence might slow their learning of mining over what they normally would learn at. I Dont see miners as being that perceptive honestly. and while skilled with a pick axe, that doesn't mean their ability to smash the pick intoa rock would make them suited to fine detail oriented work from such a high dexterity. butthose are my two coppers
Something general: I don't get why all the classes who don't need it have such high essence (especially the farmers). Also, the stats for the combat-oriented charakters are really bad for fighting.
perhaps tehre shoudl be some distinction as to what exactly essence is.
if its JUST magical energy then i would tend to agree with you but i thought i read someplace that essence was also supposed to represent charisma to soem degree.
to paraphrase a posti read a few months ago..
the ability to fill the room with your presence. and such. in these cases having a 'presence' is not unacceptable nor should it be avoided.
My personal opinion is also that the DEFAULT stats for a class should be relatively balanced, no huge bonuses OR weaknesses, then as the player gains some knowledge on how the system works they can make new characters with a much more define realm of expertise as well as character flaws. So i guess i woudl actually favor having no stat in the STARTER archtypes be below 6 or above 14

Meaning, the more essence, the better you can feel the stuff that surrounds you. F.e. strong manaflows, ghosts that are nearby but not visible etc.
As for the Charisma-thing.. Well, I think the attribute making a charakter more "charismatic" is willpower, not essence. The more willpower, the more selfconfident
