I listed an apology in the name to kill topic because I did not know the meaning of my character's name. I went to my account to try to rename him and start fresh and you have permanently banned my account despite the reasonable explanation that I had given.

If you can sort this out as quickly as possible, by perhaps deleting Aohoden and unlocking the account it would be very nice of you. However I don't understand why you didn't just take heed to my prior words..

The account is banned 'cause of multiaccounting.
You've got a mail about it.

Ehh In this case I must have you know that I share an apartment with a friend of mine, we use the same connection because I would much rather not walk down the road every time I want to play illarion.. he just started playing yesterday and is doing quite well for a new player.. if you want proof, do you have msn.. we can talk in a 3 way chat.

EDIT: And in case you are missing something, we share the same internet connection.

You should have told the GMs BEFORE.

But the GMs are nice and should listen to you ;)

Reading helps a lot.

Please remember that every player is allowed to have only one account with a maximum of five chars.
Contraventions could be revenged with a ban.

If an i-net wire is used by more than one account it has to be notified immediate and unassisted to me or another GM!
The mentioning of each name on that line is needed. Otherwise it could be that all accounts will be locked.
Done.

Not to be rude or anything, but the english in that is horrible.

"Please remember that every player is allowed to have only one account with a maximum of five chars.

Failure to obey this could result in a ban.

If an internet connection is used by more than one account; please notify IMMEDIATELY one of the GMs. A list of the account names is needed. Otherwise it may result in all accounts being locked."

The semi-colon is misused and the sentence following is kind of... wonky. It sounds like you should be notifying "immediately" and who is that?! Try:

"Please remember that every player is allowed to have only one account with a maximum of five chars.

Failure to obey this could result in a ban.

If an internet connection is used by more than one account, please notify one of the Gamemasters IMMEDIATELY. A list of the account names is needed. Otherwise it may result in all accounts being locked."

Semi-colons are used to connect two complete sentences. They're completely optional, because a period could be used, but the judicious use of a semi-colon can just make a text *feel* better. An example of proper use would be:

"Natasha had the most beautiful auburn hair; it moved in the breeze as though alive and fully aware that I was watching."

Actually a semi-colon is used instead of a fullstop where you'd want the text to flow nicer.

In your case, a comma would look better.

And don't speak too loud... or you'll summon Alex.

A full stop is a period. A period is put at the end of a complete sentence. A comma couldn't be placed there (between two complete thoughts). Trust me on this; when Alex was still a noob I was the grammar whore who fixed translations at Illarion, darling. =)

*Is summoned*

Commas are used to join a clause to a phrase that could not stand alone.

e.g.

The boy, who liked sport, kicked the ball.
"The boy kicked the ball" stands alone, but "who liked sport" does not, therefore commas are required. They're also used for short pauses.

Full stops we all know the usage of.

Colons are used as a sort of "e.g." type thing, used for instance:
In the sentence I just used.

Semi colons are longer than a comma but shorter than a full stop, usually used to link relevant sentences:

You must go; they will kill you if they find you.

It acts like a conjunction, in this case it replaces the word "because".

It's up to you, but personally I'd have used a comma; that semi colon did make me twitch when I first saw it, but it's nothing criminal :P .

It is hardly proper to use a semi-colon in a sentence such as that one. It is proper grammar but the reader could not infer that "because" is what the colon replaces. Or, because and for could all be used in that sentence. Yes, I do know for and because can be interchanged but or would make the sentence have a different meaning. A better example would be:

Child: Can you play?
Child's friend: Sorry; I need to go; I have things to do.

Child's friend: Sorry, I need to go; I have things to do.

Is correct.

When you use semi colons, it's so blindingly obvious that noone mentally slots the wrong conjunction in.
