While we're on topic.

DON'T USE "FIND OUT WHO BLOCKED ME!!111111111oneoneeleven" sites. I am POSITIVE that they don't work, and what they do... well...

I don't know, giving someone access to all your contact lists' emails doesn't seem like a nice idea ...

i got an email from someone i assumed to be my friend saying find out who has blocked you, i clicked the link but didnt enter any of my passwords or even my msn name but they still got my information and now use my msn to send emails to everyone in my address book. Most of my friends have blocked me now and i have emailed everyone else to tell them not to open any messages from me if they are advertiseing anything. Dont know how they got my info or how to get rid of them! really annoying.

You need a good antivirus program and, that's also important, a good spyware protection. For the latter, spybot does quite fine, it tells your browser(s) on which sites they should not go. Concerning free software : forget the free AnitiVir version ! The only thing it actually does is file protection (the commercial antivir, though, has been reported to do more). Lately, i had many customers who still insisted on using the free one, and who ended up with several of trojans on their machines. If you want to stick with free software, try using something like AVG free edition, or Avast!, which both have several protection services.
Things like Zonealarm (firewall) can also be somewhat helpful.

Of course, easiest to use as well as best working is Kaspersky's commercial internet security 2009. That also has the advantage that it keeps itself updated.
Even though kaspersky also takes care of some small pests, it can't be bad to have spybot installed and kept up to date at the same time. I've never seen a machine with both kaspersky and spybot installed that had a trojan or virus. ;)

Anyhow, concerning msn : If you click such links, make sure that you are using something like firefox as internet browser, that can be a bit more secure than internet explorer. Especially if your internet explorer has your msn username and password stored. *g*
Just be a bit more paranoid concerning security.

I still don't get why people klick suspicious links even if they are said a thousand times not to do so. The point is: Use the internet with some common sense and take care. Don't believe everything and everyone. Of course I'd never give my private data to someone that might be sitting on another end of the world.

If you dont have windows firewall enabled, make sure you have something like zonealarm at least, and if you have a router, always use the firewall option and only port forward things you really need. Firefox might help a little, and if you get an email containing anything resembling an advertisement from your friends or not, delete it, do not open it or click links.

Use some common sense on the interweb!

Yeah. Most of what's out there can be avoided by common sense. If you hang out at smarmy porn sites and give out your account information and click links randomly and download every attachment from every email without thinking, you're likely to get fried for it. For everything else, there's firewalls, virus scanners, and hoodoo ritual.
