log-in changed?

i can not log in.
i get the screen with the "going to Illarion" text, next i get a popup, saying: cannot connect to server!

since i was last time ingame, i have not updated any program, no virusscan or similar ran. (i have no automatic updates/sweeps programmed on that PC)
i did not even switch off the PC since last playing session about eight eight hours ago.
internet-connection seems to be good too.

has something changed on the server side?
