Hills

Post by bdgdkay »

I was just wondering, not sure if this has been proposed, would it be possible to make hills? I mean, in rl, you do just go walking around, and only see mountains streams and flat ground... there are different elevations to nearly all the ground... also, this would be useful if you are an archer character, possibly making it so that you have an advantage if you have the high ground.

Not possible, as the server only knows the location via length, wide and heigh states, its possible to change the heigh state via letters and others, but as far as I know its not possible to interfere from x=1 to the x=0 map in any way except from looking down from the higher place.

I like the style of the graphics now, but there's always room for improvement.

Lennier was planning some hills in Briar but they didn't come out right for some reason. The 'Mountains were the result of his work - Awesome!

Also, being on a 'hill' won't help since you cannot throw items or use archery from one level to another. They haven't fixed that yet.

I like the style too, despite jokes by friends who play WoW. Then I simply remind them that our game is Free! They can't argue with that, hehe!

i love the style just change from 2-d to 3-d. for style i mean the way the buildings surface looks the trees look ext. 3d would just give you the ability to see it from multiple angles. actually i'm planning on going to sheridan college in fall 2009 for animation. for you Europeans sheridan college has the reputation of one of the best schools for animation in north america, and it's just an hour from my house. so if you guys could script it i would love to make some 3d graphics for the game.

The game engine we are using (lwjgl) is in fact a 3D game engine.

Du not expect anything in that direction. Good 2D graphics (as we have it now) are far better then crappy 3D graphics. Since good 3D graphics need a lot of hardware support and a shit load of work.

-----Kanns leider nich in Englisch ausdrücken------

achja, btw.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-T9XwmkVn4 so sieht das ganze aus...
