A simple monk (( open rp to all ))

Post by Logrin Parr »

a tall and pale man sits with his hands in the some sort of prayer with his legs crossed next to the workshop in Troll's Bane. Infront of him lies a bowl, empty save for a few measily coppers. A menacing black bird perchers atop the man's shoulders and gawks at passers by, his pale white hair framed against the birds ebony feathers. In place of the man's eyes to shimmering blackstones can be found, from a distance looking like deep black pits until they catch a glint of light. His blind gaze stares out towards the horizon as the sun sets.

The clatter of copper coins falling into the bowl interupts the monks snoring..having apparently fallen asleep quite a while ago

oh...my...I must have been lost in...prayer. Blessings of the Elders upon you kind soul

Being so obviously blind the monk continues to carry on a conversation with a person who had walked away long before he started talking to them

Pausing as she catches the words of the solo conversation and stooping down with a kind smile, Fianna sets a small handful of coins in the bowl so quietly that few would be able to discern the sound.

"Hello sir," she says with a smile apparent in her voice, "You seem to have hit a wee bit of a rough patch." She drops her knee to rest on the ground as her grey eyes study his expression. "Do you need any help? A small bite to eat maybe?"

The monk runs his finger through his hair as the ever rising moon causes it to shimmer in the odd twilight

Down on my luck? Well I wouldn't exactly say I'm dancing in the sunshine...but there are those worse off then I. And with your oh so kind and generous offer I'd say that my luck has taken a turn for the better. After all, how often would a sight such as myself be given the chance to dine with a lovely and kind hearted lass such as yourself?

With that the man smiles warmly and winks a blind eye, his mouth slit from corner to corner, cheek to cheek in what looks to be a most uncomfortable way. Never the less he manages to convay a gentle good nature inspite of it.

Coming from the river towards the workshop, cannot help but smile seeing the first person to befreind her here sitting in front of the workshop awaiting donations. The smile spreads into a grin as someone drops some coins for him and keeps going, leaving him talking to the air they had just vacated. Pausing briefly at the corner of the governors house facing the depot in front of the workshop as Fianna approaches the monk, removes a roll from her bag and chuckling softly to his response to her quiery before feeding the roll to the large hulking black bird on his shoulder.
"Hello Logrin, looking for donations for your temple again?"
Looks at Fianna with a friendly smile saying hello as she drops a silver for him into his dish.

A look of amusement flashes across his aged features as he hears the familar sound of Joxia's voice, and is peppered with crumbs as his bird munches away at the roll greedily

My my, two women happy to see this old monk in one night, I must say, you ladies will give me a reputation if your not careful....and that would be abismal. After all, if people start to think I'm well to do, well I'll have to get a real vocation then won't I?

Logrin then pats the ground next to him a few times and then makes a wide motion in the general direction of each of the women.

Come sit a spell Miss Doral, this lovely lass has graciously offered to share a meal, let me do the same. And as far as reputaions are concerned....I shall do my very best not to tarnish that of either of you younge girls

Giving a polite nod to Joxia and a friendly smile, Fianna rises and brushes herself off, "Sure I won't be a minute," she says as she steps to her depot and fusses about in it, coming away with a neatly wrapped bundle.

Turning back with a soft laugh at the monk's words, she settles comfortably back onto the ground and offers a dish of cooked lamb to each of them, leaving a cake peeking out of the bundle. "Sure I'll try to make you look poor," she says with a twinkle in her eyes while trying to maintain a serious expression.

"Thank you, now that you mention it I am hungry"
Takes a seat near Logrin and graciously accepts the offered plate of lamb. Removes the leather gloves and put them away in her bag then looks to them smiling brightly, "I have a bottle of cider here if either of you would like some." Sets the bottle down near the small parcel that looks like cake and reaches back into the bag bringing out three goblets.
Turns her attention back to the monk, "Well Logrin? You never answered me...are you working on donations for your temple of suffering again?" Glances briefly at Fianna as she waits patiently for his answer.

Jonathan Cain walks through town after finnally returning from a two dwarven weeks long vacation when he spots the group of three

Ah how have you been Logrin? I see you took up taking donations, eh?
And what about you Joxia? And I fear I haven't met you yet miss...

He searches around his bag and tosses a silver coin in his friends bowl.

Altrix walks up, seeing the people sitting on the ground, and waves, but, upon seeing logrin, he puts a finger to his mouth, signalling them to be quiet. Altrix then goes to work on trying to untie his shoes with a quiet chuckle... he also tosses afew coppers to him

The now bare foot monk nods to Jonathan and then anwsers Joxia's question with a chuckles as he wiggles his toes

Aye lass, I'm still trying to build the temple, slowly but surely, or rather more slowly than surely. At this rate I'll be laying each brick myself though.

He then goes to grab a peice of lamb, but his portion was already devoured by his gluttonous shoulder mounted aquantance

I even wrote a book to try and get a few more people interested in being simple monks...but I am unfortnately the only soul foolish enough for this thankless work....or no one can read my hand writting....

The monk simply gives a light hearted shrug and motions towards the group

But at least I am in no shortage of good company.

Smothers a grin while giving Altrix a slightly scolding look and welcomes the other warmly.
"welcome back, Johnathan"
Picks up the bottle of cider filling each goblet and placing Logrins in his grasp before sipping from hers returning her attention to the monk with a light laugh as he wriggles his bared toes.
"So did you decide on a location then for the temple?"

Logrin lets out a futile sigh as his bird cranes it's neck over his shoulder and empties his cup of cider before looking to Joxia with a light hearted grin

I was thinking somewhere on this island....

He waves a dimisive hand and places his empty vessal infront of him

It's not that I wish to be vague, but I don't exactly have the luxery of being able to look over a map. It's a mute point my lovely Joxia, for I've neither the money or man power to begin construction...But you shouldn't worry yourself over the trials and tribulations of this poor old monk. I do beleive life being difficult is a prerequisit for my chosen path any way...

He chuckles before motioning to the others gathered around as his bird greedily eyes the cake

Surely you all haven't been struck mute....come regail me with tales of your exploits! I need to take my mind off such trying matters the gods see fit to bless me with
