Black Spots

Post by Cuderon »

I wonder why I have black spots on each north-eastern corner of the buildings. It doesn´t bother me at all but it is strange.
I recognize this since the moment I started to use Win2k, with Win 98 there was no such problem.

Yep, I have installed the latest DirectX and my drivers seems to be up to date.

Maybe it´s the ghost in the shell who´s playing tricks on me ;)

There is also a thin verticle black line that follows female halflings around for my client. I don't know if this has been brought up or not but this seems like a good place to post it. If it's already common knowledge, just ignore me. I'm used to it. *grins*

I regognized that line, too. But I think it is know already to the coders.

[edit] Uhm, with coders I don´t mean strange people, I meant programmers [/edit]

@Cuderon: i am running Illarion on Win2k and i do not have this problem... but then again i am not using the original tiles... that is i do, but the old "original" tiles... perhaps you should try them out - could work? i dont know though...

@Niniane: same here - i, too, have this black line following female hobbits, but not always... from time to time only...

and since we are discussing odd grafical appearances i would like to discuss odd grafical disappearances, too ;-)
from time to time when i log on illarion some grafix are completely missing... leather, walls, shields and other items and also at times people... instead of "seeing" the item or person i only "see" some white square with some sign in it. logging off and in again doesnt help always and it i have noticed that it always happens when the server just had been freezed.

[edit] @cuderon: ah... now i know what you are talking about... i have that, too, but i think this has something to do with buildings that have several floors...

Here´s a sample for this error, if it is one.

@Cuderon
If you walk into those buildings and into the north right corner (I could have said East  ) of the building those black squares should go away as you 'Explore' the map. It must have something to do with the walls blocking a persons vision (ie. how you can not see people standing next to the northern or eastern walls) and so you can not explore that section of the map unless inside the buildings.

Speaking of black graphics, it seems that every few minutes, my whole screen flashes completely black for a second. I have WinXP Pro with the latest directX, although this never happened in the old client.

I tried it, but there are still black spots. They are smaller now, but still there.
To Astrals black screen: this happens everytime to me a Trillian-contact logs of (Trillian is a multi messenger).

For me they've never completely gone away but they're as small as they'll go. It's not too important of a thing though so I never thought about why it was happening. I'm glad I could help at least in a small way.

Another graphical glitch I've noticed is that recently the monsters have been turning invisible while engaged in a fight with a character but will reappear when pushed.

The invisible monster thing has been here for a while. As for the screen flashing black, Im pretty sure that has to do with the refresh rate of your video card. ( dont quote me ask a person who KNOWS ) I have all of these problems except the black line around female hobbits and the black wall thing. Im running the original client without ANY graphic enhancers. Everything still works fine for me.

The grey line at the female halfling is known. It is a fault in the graphic.

The black spots in the north eastern corner of buildings are places, where you never had a look at (as every black part of the map), so its no bug.
