now this i just want to know for personal reasons.
Whet is the monster next to the online players thing? ive seen it in screenshots also but dont know what it is.
Was funny when they spawned them in the rose once, when magic wasn't active and noone really had good skills or equipment since the charwipe. The strategy was something like "GET THE HELL OOOOUT!!!". I got clouded .

Salathe killed them all ;D
I went through a portal up the ladder and had to float from Vanima back to bane to get ressed, but there were those ridiculous fast demon skells that left iceflames when you killed them in town, so I had to leg it away. Good times. I also randomly stumbled upon some house with loads of demon npcs and some guy tied to a chair through a portal too, but they teleported me away considering I was already clouded .

.. This was almost 3 years ago, there'd been a charwipe a few months before, the playerbase was much smaller, the badguys were extremely well played, Troll's Bane got completely taken over by undead and the gates were locked so you couldn't even get in at the time, and ridiculously powerful reds were placed round the edges and constantly huge things were happening. Skillgain was quicker so people didn't particularly need to pg and we all hung out at the grey rose and had big conversations while Brelogar made us pray etc.
It was awesome. I think Nop has some screenies of it in his directory.
... There were like 20 players, NOONE went to the other towns anyway. Lich war was like a fullscale christmas invasion where new events constantly happened involving everyone of a small player base who got to know each other better etc. over the course of a month. It was hardcore.

heh, i stumbled across this thread... ive got to say, the more i hear about the lich wars, the more i wish something like that could happen today... the quest we have right now is okay... but ive got to say... doesnt sound as great as the lich wars... I know that people are going to write about how its not supposed to be a hack and slash game, but from what ive heard it was a balance of roleplay and fighting.. which this quest is, but not quiet to the scale of the lich wars
It still holds nothing against Darlok quest, no matter how often alex wants to hype it, anyway the demon quest had such a potential, sadly it was ended to earlier, I actually liked the atmosphere around Goldburg, everyone working hand in hand, dwarves piping up, and everything, kinda sad that it ended far to early.
