Now this is kind of pathetic but i sort of need to know it anyways. How do you speak the races languages? You know like when you see [dwa]***********
So i hope someone can explain it please.

!l <language> to switch to a certain language. Then whenever you speak, you'll speak in that language until you switch to another again. The default is common.

Examples:

!l common
!l humman
!l dwarf

(note the second letter is a lowercase 'L')

thanks it just is a bit useful to know how to talk in private without whispering. Because i have played since October last year but didnt know how to talk in a certain language

Is it possible to learn new languages, like a human learning to speak the dwarfen language?

Only if you have 1 skill point.

So currently this is only possible with ancient, or by GM power ;)

technically yes. You need the first skill point in another language, then by speaking and hearing that language you will proceed.

There used to be "language books" which give you this first skill point, but it has been abused.
There are only Ancient Language books left, which you need as a mage.


Any other languages need a GM AFAIK.

so wait then can you like talk in elf if your a dwarf just not get the skill point?

You can switsch to the language yes, but noone will ever understand you.

Basically how well you speak the language will determine how much you understand and how much people understand you. If you're a dwarf and you try to speak elven, elf chars will just see Someone: [elf] ***** because you can't speak the language well enough for native speakers of it to understand.
