General PM questions

Post by paul laffing »

I was just curious, but, Serpardum said if a PMed him one more time, he would ban my forum account. I PMed him twice regarding my recent game ban. If i am not allowed to PM him, then what is the use of the PMing anyway?

Simple, not to annoy other people. It doesn't say anywhere around the website that the administrators must explain why someone has been banned. He doen't want to, so leave it at that.

Or how long, thats like a judge not telling a guy how long he will be in jail.

Didnt Serpardum said somewhere, that it was not him who banned you Paul?
So in that case he cant even explain you anything.

I wanted to know who banned me, but that is not the topic. How come i am not aloud to talk to the GMs and none of them reply to my GMs. Fooser anology is quite correct.

But you only get the PMs because you are GMs. Don't you see? If i was a GM, i would get lots of PMs too because i would control the game. The whole point of PMs are for people to communicate with each other. If a person has a question for a GM, they would use the PM system rather than posting it on the forums.

The difference between your example Fooser and not knowing how long you are banned because technically, if you play the game, you have no rights. You have privledges, such as being able to play the game and having a board account however, these are not rights.

Hm...

It says on the site that if there's a ban, a warning doesn't need to be issued or a ban doesn't have to be explained. This is understandable, only if the the creators of Illarion themselves would do the bans...why? Because they own it, and they have a right.

BUT...if somebody such as Serpardum banned somebody, that would be okay; only if he had a reason to back it up. He doesn't have to tell those who aren't involved, but if I was banned from the game forever for whatever reason...it would be nice to know WHY I was banned, and if there's any evidence.

If explanations were given, most of the people would deny doing whatever they did to get banned and end up sending even more PMs or whatever.

It's a small wonder why there are so few people playing this game, even though it is so awesome.

It is full of POWER HUNGRY gms.

If someone is banned I see no reason whatsoever why they should not be told why and for how long. There should also be hard, concrete evidence before the ban is put in place.

Paul has every right to ask why and for how long. If Serpardum did not ban him then he should pm Paul back telling him that he is talking to the wrong person, not send a threating message back.

I don't know why I am even wasting my time putting this here because it will probably be deleted and I will probably be banned for life because we are not supposed to have an opinion on these issues.

But I think someone should be allowed to voice their opinion no matter how harsh it may seem.

Don't get me wrong, I think Illarion is a great game and it has a lot of potential. The GMs just need to lighten up a little and behave like humans instead of Gods.

I agree with two points. Roke is correct, the legal owns/administrators have the right to regulate this as they see fit, but that does not mean it's always the correct or best way. I'm not complaining about the actual ban and my innocent(which I am but that has already been discusses unsuccessfully  ), but the principle of it. One week, One year, I think the time span estimate for the guilty person(s) should be shrunk a little bit at least. And also if no one tells what they are guilty of, then there could be mistakes and misunderstandings made.

Think about hundreds of people voicing their opinions in unison. It isn't pretty.

1. I clearly explained that I was not the one to ban him and I felt it was up to the one who banned him to explain how long it was for, if they wished to.

2. He PMed me asking me how long he was banned for. I PMed him back, I"m not the one who banned you, don't ask me about it it.

3. He PMed me again asking how long he was banned for. I PMed him backing saying if he PMed me again about this I would turn it into a permaban and delete his forum account.

4. He PMed me AGAIN and I warned him one more time. Then he started PMing other GMs. One of these other GMs PMed me asking about how long hte ban was for, I explained what I had already told him and suggested they tell him not to PM them about it also.

He knows why he was banned. It was explained to him.

No one who has EVER been banned has agreed with it.

The othe two who were banned in this case have not started whining about it, they took it on the chin.

If you don't want to get banned, don't break the rules.

If you break the rules and get punished for it, don't start complaining that you didn't break the rules because, basically, we hear it all the time and dont' want to hear it again.

good point :D

I don't want anyone to think that I don't support Illarion because I do 100%, that is the whole reason I say what I do. If anyone doubts my support just read my other posts.

All I'm trying to say is once someone is banned they should be told why and for how long. Then the person being banned should leave the GMs alone. If I was banned and did not know for how long, I would bug the crap out of everyone too.

Well, considering he could of been permabanned for this, and many others have, he should consider himself lucky it wasn't a permaban!

My thinking is the GM who banned him felt that him not knowing how long he was banned for was part of the punishment.

If he does not agree, then it can be changed to a perma-banned and then he WOULD know how long it was for.

first of all, america is not a democracy, its a republic, there really is a big difference, democracies include everyones vote, republics have representitives for a group of people. Thats why democracies and democracy based governments are so inefficient and thats why communism is going to take over because people are going to get tired of waiting. muhahaha

Actually, america is a socialist republic. And also, not to complain or anything, but the only types of government i can think of where you are arrested and punished without knowing who, what, when, where, why, or how are:

Communism
Dictatorships
fascism

Not to say anything about Germany and fascism, but...

sorry paul, i dont want to start a pointless discussion...
but the america is either comunist, dictatorship or facism, because it has prisoners that are neither war prisoners, nor normal criminals, who have the right to consult a lawyer, hear their charges, etc.

all this does not belong here.
