Potion of X
These are meant to be potions to be used by fighters to temporarily raise a stat or two. Although these are clearly trespassing on druid territory, till we actually GET druids, they make good money sinks or rewards
Potion of Strength
This potion costs 1 silver piece, and gives 1-2 points of additional strength. The effects last for 15 RL minutes, and drinking more then 1 potion of strength at the same time is totally useless.
"You feel your muscles expand and harden, you feel stronger"
"You feel the effects of the potion wear off"
Strong Potion of Strength
This potion may only be found during treasure hunts, and gives 2-4 points of additional strength. The effects last for 15 RL minutes, and drinking more then 1 potion of strenght at the same time is useless.
"Every muscle in your body looks stronger, you feel dangerously strong"
Potion of Agility
This potion costs 1 silver piece, and gives 1-2 points of additional agility. The effects last for 15 RL minutes, and drinking more then 1 potion of agility at the same time is totally useless.
"Your body feels more quick on its feet"
Strong Potion of Strength
This potion may only be found during treasure hunts, and gives 2-4 points of additional agility. The effects last for 15 RL minutes, and drinking more then 1 potion of agility at the same time is useless.
"Your body feels very energetic, and you feel speedy"
Potion of Survival
This potion costs 1 silver piece, and gives 1-2 points of additional const. The effects last for 15 RL minutes, and drinking more then 1 potion of survival at the same time is totally useless.
"You feel as if your body can withstand more pain now"
Strong Potion of Survival
This potion may only be found during treasure hunts, and gives 2-4 points of additional const. The effects last for 15 RL minutes, and drinking more then 1 potion of survival at the same time is useless.
"You feel almost invunerable"
==
The effects of different potions stack, so you can drink a potion of agility and another of strength at the same time. However if you drink 4 potions in 30 minutes, you get the message "Too much potions harm your body", and you lose any effect and take -4 constitution for 30 minutes.

From what I know about upcoming druid magic, there will be no "clean" potions with one effect. They will have a series of effects, good and bad. So, no healing potion, food potion, mana potion and the like anymore but healing/mana drain/food drain/whatever potions, all in one bottle. But somebody else should tell the details and in how far your ideas might fit in.

Not in the version I read. It's like a scale: When you put something into the left scale pan, the right scale pan will always move. You cannot make one standing still and the other going down, you know. This is what a clean potion would be like. Anyway, all I wanted to say is that the proposed potions won't fit the druid magic system as I know it, but the effects might get incoperated.
Aye, its going to sound rather awful to be honest. "If I drink this, my mana will go up, but my health will go down, so is it worth drinking after all?"Mr. Cromwell wrote:I hope that the complexity and (apparent) akwardness will not kill the demand for the potions.
Nobody will want to buy risky potions like that...
Does it have to be a 1-1 correspondence? Trying to make everything balance out exactly probably isn't the way to go.
If your strength goes up more than your mana goes down it might make sense.
Are there other 'negative' effects rather than strictly stat related? Drawing on medicine and literature, reasonable trade offs might be that some potions make you more aggressive (don't know how to handle that with mechanics, except to get an occasional tell that you are angry/annoyed/irritated to remind you to RP it), might make you fatigue easily, might make you confused, might make your heart race, might make food taste bad...

Did anyone notice the possibilities rather than complaining about the "Oh no, potions will have both positive and negative effects"?
Each herb used will act like a rune in magic and add something to the potion lastly developed. That makes up for a LOT of possible potions all with their different little side effects.
Don't say it's bad before you saw and tried it.
There are people currently working upon it and I believe they are farther ahead in development progress than the discussion that might evolve out of this thread now and they know pretty well what they are doing so there's no need to argue about potions (in that way) right now while there's a (maybe different but better / worse (who knows?) plan being worked on anyway.

I already suggested this, and Keikan told me to code it myself, then I asked Nitram about it and he said this wouldn't go ig even if it was made because no druid system is active.

I feel the need to elaborate:
I hope that in the hassle of creating, what sounds like a very interesting and challenging alchemy/druidry/potion-brewing system, the actual point of the potions won't be forgotten. They still ought to, more or less, deliver a desired effect for the custome. The fact that the person who makes the purchase will, in the worst case scenario for a lot of potions, rely his/her life on it means that if the potions cannot be semi-reliably relied on, then the customer will think twice before making the investment (thus decreasing demand). Of course, when the system is balanced and well made, I dunno if there will be a problem with it.
