Fix/ Repair

Post by Valione »

Not very good at explaining things so I'll just come out and say it.

How about implementing a fix/ repair ability for smith's, enabling them to fix/ repair swords and armor's, and perhaps similarly with other 'trades' in the game aswell. For example a player could use one sword or set of armor considering they keep getting it repaired by smith's.

Imagine it, some RP can be made of 'someone's' legendary poison/ fire/ magic sword or bow/ axe you get the point.. Or favourite jacket or shoes or whatever you get my point?

I ask this not knowing particularly how the server/ system works, but I'de imagine this could be done, but may take a bit of effort.

Discuss?

I don't know about the smithing system, but tailors can repair torn clothing the same way the can complete partially finished garments.

Crafters can repair items, if they can make the items from scratch, except carpentry items.

The problem is you lose 1 quality and gain 1 durability. This was meant so you still need a smith, instead of having everlasting items.

(Example: Excellent slightly scratched -> Very good new

As said before by devs in slightly different words:

We want items cycled through in game and not lasting forever.

Basically we need smiths to make things in order to make smiths needed in game. We want as many crafts needed in game as we can get to add to a more realistic/rp/fun atmosphere (I think realism counts as some fun in this situation). If repairing items was easy or made more efficient, smiths would have less use and sell wares less because people who normally buy from them keep repairing their armors instead of buying new ones.
