New Weapon Pics and Ideas

Post by Kringin »

Alright I have been bored lately so I have been drawing stuff whenever I get time. Check these out and tell me what you think of them. My scanner sucks I'm not sure if its even supposed to scan pic's
Click here for my weapons and I also have a crude but usuable version of a war mace. Tell me if you like them. (I used a level editorfor UT to make the warmace, I had nothing else) Oh and they look better on my paper than the pic
If someone has more talent to make a 3d version of mine they would look really nice.

Hey good Work, with such Cool Graphics its Easy to desing such weapons. Heres one of the Battle Axes, i could Design more but Weapons are not so importent for Illarion yet. But i have enough time to design more of your Cool Weapons.

Hey Fedaykin...

perhaps you should do some kind of postprocessing after rendering the 3D Objects ... Photoshop, Paintshop, Corel or any other of your choice. Usually its easier for your eyes to recognize the slightly accentuated edges of comic stlye objects.

Not bad !
Some things that are absolutely necessary when you want to produce usable items :
  • When rendering, render them in the same size that will be used in the game. That means, make them fit a floor plate. Shrinking them later to a matching size, will make it look silly (Detail loss etc).
  • Place the items in the correct perspective ! Always look at the items that are already built in. Place your items in the SAME position and alignment the built-in items have.
  • Render (with Oversample/Antialias methods) the items on black or grey background(whatever matches best for the item). Or if your program can do that : Render them WITHOUT oversampling/antialiasing against a background (but do the oversampling/antialiasing, else the items may look pixel-alike).
  • After rendering and oversampling/antialiasing, replace the background with the pink standard color. In the most cases, you will now see a border around the items in the color of the old background. Remove this border pixel by pixel and carefully.
If you did all thise steps correctly, the item may be usable. And if it is really good, it will perhaps be built in some day.

Oversampling gegen echt transparenten Hintergrund.

Kringin something about your "war mace" does not have the illlarion medieval style to it. It looks a bit futuristic...the top of the face looks kind of like a disco ball, and the handle like a plastic...golf club handle. Not that I am criticizing your art work just trying to give you some suggestions for improvement. My advice: Get the medieval old touch and do away with the "shiny futuristic" style.

I must say Fedaykin you did a great job, I would be on those 3d-utilities if I could(old PC) The bolted parts that you see are supposed to be thick because they hold the blades, which are supposed to have a little more think ness to them, and they absorb teh shock from teh clashing of weapons.

Its nothing big Elaralith its supposed to look rusted but I really could not find a good texture. Oh and like I mentioned I used a level editor from Unreal Tournament so its not one of the best things you will see.

Would anyone like to know the names of the weapons?

If you want to do some more weapons, please consider doing more martial art type weapons, like the throwing stars.

Sais, Nunchucks, bo sticks, caltrops and the such.

Thanks.

I'll try to draw some good ones. Wish me luck

Here are the names anyways :D
-The weird looking thing is the Glacier
-The big scimitar is the Kaser Blade or Kaiser Blade or The Zaikar(whichever you like)
-The scythe is the Quick Doom
-The big Blade is called the Chainsaw Blade(just ignore that one)
-The big axe is the Shrieker or Screamer when you swing it it makes a loud noise

Thank you very much Fedaykin you are a TRUE 3D ARTIST :D

Can you recommend me a 3d program that might work on a
-467mhz,4meg video mem, 192 ram
Computer?

I would like throwing daggers, a sword with a curved blade (sabre sword). The thing I dont get with distance weapons is why the ammo dissapears... couldnt it be changed so that some of them break and dissapear, but some still remain on the square you are aiming at?

Edit: Used ammo would cause less damage though.
