Currently NPCs look like every other character.
Would it be possible to 'decorate' them a bit? Change their clothes, and make them wear aprons or something like that? Or make the guard at the gate look like a real guard? There wouldn't be much need for graphics, since the NPCs do not move, there are only 4 pictures to each NPC. (one picture if they stop rotating in their same space)
It'll make them more recognisable to new players (apron = shopkeeper), and it'll also make them look a bit better.

This would be low of my list of priorities but graphic wise it would be a pleasant change.......... it may set them aside. I would also like to see other things ig decorating wise... even if a different color i.e. something besides blue beds.. double beds.... different colored candles, tables more decorating items. (different colors shouldn't be that hard to do graphic wise.. but would spice things up ig).
He means just the ones that stand still. e.g. the guard at north of town could have a special 1 frame graphic just for that character. (i.e. not used for anything else), and since he doesn't walk he'd just need his west-facing graphic.
On another note: Couldn't the yellow cross graphic be used for south/west/east, since presently you can only see it when it faces North?

I was talking about:Nitram wrote:NPCs use the same races as player characters do. And NPCs can move. Guess what the cows are.
We need a full set of race graphics to change the NPCs look.
Eliza, Augham, the weirdo at the pig pens, the quest NPCs...
Of course I'm not expecting a total character graphics change , but can't NPCs be treated server-wise as items?
Yeah sure. So we would use a new race for each NPC.
Thats a load of work ( since we need client, server, GM Backend, Account System and Homepage changes to include a new race ) and the afford would be close to not exsisting.
You should just get along with the NPCs as they are. When we include something like paperdolling they will look different anyway. Everything else are dirty hacks.
And since a NPC is something technically completly different then a item, the server can't handle NPCs like items.
Proposal rejected.
