Too slow...help!

Post by Ultima Zell »

Alright i've looked through this forum for a few hours now and i've searched and searched again. I've tried everything i have found that was suggested and i'm sure the answer is probably right in front of me...but i guess i need someone to spell it out for me.
I just installed the client on this computer and i log in and the game screen loads but it acts like it's lagging severely. All the items in my inventory show up slowly one by one and i can't even get my char to move at all. I set my frame rate to 8 and did everything i could find that was suggested, but nothing works. Help anyone?

Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)

Display Device
Name: Intel(R) 82810 Graphics Controller
Approx. Total Memory: 32.0 MB
Current Display Mode: 1152 x 864 (24 bit)

This might just seem obvious to you and you might already know this... but if your character has too many items with you then your character moves in slow-motion and if you have beyond too many items then you can't move at all

You might want to change your display mode too 32 bit, maybe you just got into a bad time, as Illarion can have some very hard lags, but I played this game allready with an 4 mb graphik card so it should be playable.

You should try to following things:

Run the game in full screen mode. Your resolution is 4:3 as well only slightly bigger. Should look good.
Furthermore you should set the graphics in the client to reduced and the colors to 24bit.
Framerate of 8 causes nothing but trouble. Set it to 10 or 12. That usually runs better then the extrem low values even on oder computers.

If that all does not make that stuff any better, its really your connection.

Used to have this problem all the time. The problem for me was my drivers. You got all the latest drivers?

Well i have a pretty fast DSL connection, so i doubt it's that....idk if i have all the latest drivers though, i don't really know how to check that.
I log in and i see the little "going to illarion" screen then it shows a black map and all my inventory and health bar and stuff as empty and my mouse doesn't move smoothly across the screen it lags severely...then after a little while my char shows up on the screen, then my inventory slowly fills one item at a time, the my health raises up...then eventually it shows the actual map, and the welcome to illarion message, but then i can't really do anything. My mouse lags so bad i can't control it and my char wont move...so it's got to be my computer...i just don't know how to fix it. It seems to be a pretty fast computer...or so i thought anyways....but the game is just lagging too much for me to play it. I know it's not the server or anything, it's my comp.
I set the frame rate for 10, 24 bit, and reduced graphics...still no change though

You have direct x 9.0, right?

Go to start -> Run -> Type in "dxdiag" and go on "display". It'll have your graphics card there. That's what you're trying to find a driver for.
