Save Character

Post by Crosis »

I think the next client should have an option (like the option where you can turn off your sound) which lets you save your characters name and password. Its not that big of a deal, just kind of a finishing touch sort of thing.

You mean while you are playing the game right? otherwise it is already there.

What I mean is when you start the program you need to type in your character and password and there would be an option there that would make it remember you character and password so you dont have to enter it every time you log on.

I would prefer not.

Because what will happen is that someone will run around PKing everyone, then when confronted wiht it claim that their little brother logged in as them since their name/password was saved.

Without that option, you don't have that excuse.

But then it would be their own fault and responsibility for leaving the option on.

It is a bad idea, really..
-hacker(easy access)
-little brother(serpardum mentioned)
-friend(unknowingly)
-Crazy friend(purposely)
-etc. its goes on for a bit

i think it's a good idea. People don't have to use it and if they do and it get's abused it's their fault. Some people have no worries about somebody else going on their computer and it's just 'a finishing touch' as it was put earlier

I think that the drawbacks to saving the password far outweigh the benefits.

It's really not a lot of trouble to type in the name and password everytime.

But the problem, Setherioth, is not only the player that is now going to get their account banned, and e-mail back and forth and post on the forums that they shouldn't be banned just because their little brother logged in...

But all the characters who lost skills from being PKed by this little brother...

All the time to clean up the mess, etc..

I speak from experience. There have been a few cases where a players password was gotten and the character wrecked havoc until deleted. Then a lot of time to clean up the mess etc...

It's just not worth the headache, IMO

I think this idea is interesting, though it is contraversial. Also it would only save 10 or 15 seconds of you typing your name and password in whereas it would cause many other difficulties too.

If you're already reaching for the keyboard, typing your name won't cost you very much time anyways (using the tab key).
