the GM is human, like the players (i suppose).
so we still got the point, what to do, when even the GM sleeps?

Do you also want a GM-played robber who invades the town when no player controlled robber is online? :P

Concerning this "!gm -> ban" thingy, in case you encounter rule violations of anyone, feel free to contact a GM instead of e.g. discussing OOC. If no rule violation occurs, deal with the situation and keep in mind this is a roleplaying game. If a criminal escapes... he escapes.

If you encounter extended persona play, feel free to contact a GM as well so we can talk about this to the offender. But keep in mind that playing a good char does not mean you're a good player and vice versa.

Well, it does not need to be a gm controled robber but i would like to see the brigands moved around from time to time. ;) Those guys are able enough at stealing ones pants. :D Or encounter some unusual placed mobs from time to time... A well, yes, maybe a gm controled robber from time to time would be awesome, if he plays good.

For the gm guard, Korm Kormsen got a point since 'sighs' even the GMs need sleep, a nap at least. What to do then?

It was not about banning people for being a baddy. I did encounter some really good played bad ones and enjoyed it. No need to have that every day though... It is about somehow helping the lesser populated towns or towns without sufficent guards to keep banned people outside. But then again, GM-guard would not work the whole day. As Korm Kormsen said the problem really is about some guys abusing the online list or doing msn-assaults. Those players should be banned from the game. But there is a problem here too, one never can tell if an incident was 'fate' or 'forced'.

And Estralis, not everyone is playing a char which might be considered good or bad because both categories do not exactly fit. I could tell you some chars names my character would consider bad but those would be a bit different from the chars I, the player would tell you. ;)

A gatehouse was designed to check who gets in and who gets out.

A gatehouse was designed so people who wear cloaks and act shady get checked by guards, or for wanted criminals to get caught.

If a town has spent hard-earned money to get itself a gatehouse (Zzyathis' gatehouse cost 348 silver, not to mention 2500+ bricks and almost 3000 wood and more stuff), then it deserves to be able to filter out who goes in and who goes out.

If the Nordmark for example doesn't want anyone trespassing on its lands, and it decides to build a gatehouse, I think we should give it (and any other town who builds a gatehouse) the right to 'filter' the people who get in and out.

If you want to RP a shady character, just don't get caught. Don't take it as being a 'mechanically-enforced rule', but rather somethign that should be roleplayed, I'm sure in RL if the town guards are on duty they wouldn't let anyone wanted in, especially if they're posted at the only entrances.

I agree it makes sense that a gatehouse should be more than a place to get out of the rain. I mean seriously for a peiod of like a month one of chars. was a guard in T.B. so it was annoying how i would have to deal with not knowing that i should arrest that person that im showing around. I mean sure this would involve a bit of work to implement but you should still consider it.
