Attributes

Post by Niala »

I was reading thru the forum and noticed some people mention the idea of attributes working in some way like skills, so maybe it will someday be possible to make them non static? Like strength for carrying a lot of heavy stuff or intelligence increasing when reading books (not only the ones for skills but also books like History) Probably any work done could increase intelligence a little bit, and drinking alcohol could decrease it over time?
I added a poll so everyone can vote if they think it would be nice if attributes can be kind of leveled or should stay like they are, of course there should be race limitations like strength for faeries... or intelligence for orcs , or maybe not such limitations but well it would be really hard for faeries to gain more strength and agility for dwarfs or intelligence for orcs.

In short: Attributes could INCREASE over time due to specific actions and they also could DECREASE over time due to other specific actions!

I am against.

Since this will lead to a new set of problems and complaining against those who powergame etc... etc...

True, it would be nice to have them changing maybe, but as I said above. Heh.

About the power gamers... i duno, most of people on Illa still prefer role play, that is the reason you are here aint it? I think those who power game, well its their business , they probably wont get any friends, will level some time, maybe kill some of us and leave here since there will be no sense in this game for their kind.

What a load of rubbish. Proven to be false.

Regardless: If you're so much for the roleplay then why do you want attribute increase eh?

Since im a faerie... cant carry noting to sell anything actually only way for me would be to convince customer to come to farm :P

So tell me than how power gamers play this game? I see no way to power game it, it becomes useless and boring if u just level like crazy and leave no time to introduce to people, than go kill them or something??? .... *doesnt consider that to be fun at all*

Every concept of the engine of Illarion. Every system that runs currently and every calculation in the scripts, bases on the fact that the attributes do not change. We basically have to rewrite everything in case we want to change this.

You maybe impress this as mean action from my side. But what ever the result of that poll is:
The proposal is rejected. The attributes are and stay static beside of temporary changes.

A. Don't be a fairy farmer then...
B. Powergaming is not random pking, it's skillgaining at a ridiculously fast pace to become better than other people. People don't just pg a skill to max then quit, otherwise why would they play in the first place?

a fairy, that farms might be seen as powergaming as well.

Niala,

don't get me wrong, but wouldn't it be an idea, if you played the game a couple of weeks, before trying to change it?

Please.
