Avatars/Avatare
I cleaned up the avatars right now.
Now you only can upload your avatar to the Illarion-server (no cross-linking anymore).
Limits: 80x80 pixels, image size <8000 Bytes
P.S.: please upload you avatar again if you already did it ('cause through the new limitations I had to delete all at our server)
------------------------------------------------------

Just one note, the avatars in the gallery are larger than the 80x80 limitations. This means, that if someone wishes to use a custom made avatar (like the human holding wand), they must shrink the image, making it look bad in comparison to others. I think that 80x100 is more reasonable, as most avatars are taller than they are wide. A slightly longer avatar doesn't cause as much grief as a slightly wider avatar...

Aye.. I do agree! Especially since my avatar looks like CRUD when I crush it to 80 x 80. I think 80 x 80 is just a TAD too restrictive (to put it lightly, of course..)
100 x 120 would be my prefered minimum size, but I think most of us can live with 100 x 100, AT LEAST... I, personally, dont have a porblem with avatars 120 in size, judging from teh fervent discussion in "The sticky on signitures". I'd like to refer those interested to my post in that thread, I belive it pretty much states my position on all this.

I am very glad to see teh 8kb rule bieng enforced though, that's a killer to Dialup-ers!
Thanks for taking teh time to read this!

Well I'm glad they decided to let us remain having avatars at all!
@Tyrth Coshi--If you do a bit of checking around there are freeware programs that will allow you to resize an image verses streching and/or skewing an image-which causes that unwanted distortion. I use to have installed LViewPro, evaluation copy, that was at the time downloadable. It has been a long time since I have needed any decent graphx editor. So now I'm not sure what is out there and decent for this purpose. Nonetheless, it looks a though you have posted your avatar under the new restriction and it looks great!

I saw a pretty picture of an tamagotchi on TV last night. I made a screenshot and it is 576x384 pixels big. Since I think this 648KB 24Bit BMP picture fits my lizard character best and expresses much of my feelings, that are important to know when you read my posting (thats why I change my avatar with every change in my emotions), I demand that avatars up to this size will be allowed.
I too would rather have the signatures back (see topic on technic board). But if you're going to put 60x100 avatars in the gallery, you should at least allow that size for custom ones.

(60x100 version)

(48x80 version)
It's plain to see that the second pair just looks pathetic. So what's the point of enabling avatars but forcing them to be so small they look bad?

I used Paint Shop but a freeware program should work, too.
Try Irfan View or 1A View ( http://www.freewareforu.de/download.php ... View%201.0 ) and look for the Picture Size option.
Or just send it to me
