~Everything that is, that was and that will be~

Since weeks already there was always the same figure seen in the library of Trolls Bane. Each and every day. Some people say, that not even during the war with Caelum the hooded figure had moved from its table that was covered in several books and lose parchments with notes or strange drawings. Sometimes even, they say, she fell asleep right there when the night was coming in.

The figure itself was of frail frame and most of the time wore her dark violet colored cloak that in the shadows easily could have been mistaken with black. Underneath one could have seen the very young face of a woman whose sea-like eyes were studying each and every line of the heavy tomes in front of her.

And this woman was Juliette del Attilia.

It was the night of the 4th of Findos as Juliette leaned back against the backrest of the chair and seemed to sigh, though inaudible. She rubbed over her eyes that had slight dark circles thereunder. The candle flames flickered a little at her movements and Juliette watched the changing shadows at the wall. She was glad that the librarian had allowed her to stay overnight to do her research. It would take ages if she only had been able to access the library at day. It already took ages this way as well.
She removed the hood from her cloak that she had not yet taken off since the last person had left the building. She has been too lost in the books. But now her concentration faded and her body was literally aching for sleep. Juliette felt like she had a hangover. “Intoxicated by knowledge”, she thought and smiled faintly to herself. The candles that had now burned for so long every night were dangerously close to dying.

Getting a grip on herself again, Juliette forced herself once more over the tome and turned its frail page. A few moments of perfect silence, only disturbed by her slow breathing, settled. Then Juliette froze. And in the very next second she held onto the book and leaned in closer, as if the book could suddenly decide to run away or the words might change if she wouldn’t be attentive enough. Her heart was racing. Her eyes sparkled as she read once more through the lines, chasing away the tiredness that they had told of before. The excitement brought back her concentration.

Oh how stupid she has been! She has been on the wrong track all the way down! This was the missing puzzle she had been looking for. Finally. Finally this brought some answers to all her questions.
Juliette chuckled inaudible as she hastily wrote down some notes. Silas Farron had been right, without knowing it. She would have to tell him soon about this, although she wasn’t sure if he in his current situation would find enough time to spent attention to her discovery. But it wouldn’t matter.

A smile came across her lips as she finished the last few words of her note.

… everything that is, that was and that will be.

"If you would find the most beautiful gem you have ever seen in your life. So beautiful, that it appears almost magical. And you intended to add it to an item. What item would this be?"

This is what Juliette had asked the dwarf, after she had bought the finely cutted emerald of him. Now she was sitting on the roof of the Trolls Bane's library and raised the emerald against the sun light, examining it. It was flawless. Perfect. Any energy would flow through this stone and strengthened by it, without a doubt. Nontheless this neatly cutted and flawless gem was only a pebble compared to what she was seeking.
She lowered the emerald that had casted a soft, green shade upon her face as she was holding it towards the sun. Indeed Juliette wasn't a dwarf and it wasn't easy to think as one, but never would this gem she was speaking of have been added to a gold ring. Apart from the fact that its size was too big, she seriously doubted that any dwarf would have had the heart to cut it into smaller pieces. No, it wasn't a ring.

Juliette lowered her gaze to the old, dusty book full of dwarven legends, stories and fairytales. It took so much time to translate rune by rune but Juliette didn't speak this old dwarven language and there wasn't any other way to achieve the information she needed. Unless she would find a dwarf who would do her the favour to read it for her. But why would a dwarf do such a thing, unless it was for a certain amount of gold or beer.
Or pride. Juliette's lips formed to a smile and she took the heavy tome upon her lap. Indeed that was a possibility. Her older brother had sent her the book from Lor Angur, after she requested it and this tome certainly had quite an age and was rare to find. Her family wouldn't miss it, even if it had quite a value. Offering the book in return for the favour of translating might actually work...

Copperless is how Reshar stepped on to the dock and he was not use to it. In recent years he had searched through books and finally, the swift air of a rumor turned into seas. He cracked his knuckles, looking to the small island which his journey now led him.

Could his path have been correct? No doubt, this was a small island, one of the smallest he had been to, and yet something so grandiose as it could be somewhere on this tiny place.

He remembered how it started, word of it passed his ear when he went back to his birthplace of Ironsiege for a rest. He had heard the legends before, but simply dismissed them as such. Just as soon as he sat down, he left his home and took a long trip to Salkamar. Spending years, he traveled about, looking for what he could find. In the process he spent all his money and ended up here....Gobiath and island he'd hardly ever heard of. He looked down to his hands and cursed his fate, he'd have to use them again to make more funds. He hoped his stress would not get to him.
