Illarion Staff Please Read

Post by Armil Darken »

I was thinking about the amount of people that would like the interface changed back to the way it was. I am able to change it back to the original view, but before I change any part of the graphics I want permission to change because it is the staff's property,((Or Alatars)).

Also I would not change any of the enviroment elements,((Walls, Tiles, Charcters, Animations.)).

Changes would include.

-- Classic interface.
-- Possible a few "decorations" added.
-- Smoother lines.
-- Possible inventory slots change.
-- Smoother Text. ((Possibly.))

There would be no changes that would possibly cause RP confusion.

The staff could PM me or reply to this post.

why don't you just apply for a "job" as graphical artist instead?

Is anybody going to do something about the background color of the inventory? It's too dark to see some items like coal on many computers.

I think, whatever color you choose, some items with almost the same color, will be hard to see.
Is there any good color/solution for this problem?

One possible solution to the color problem is to refrain from using a single color back round. Gradient or textured colored backgrounds for inventory slots would reduce blending items, such as coal, which are predominately one color. The gradients or textures should have certain properties such as the direction of gradient should be strictly vertical or horizontal because most of the item images slanted in the viewable area. Further textures should be shape neutral, mean more noise oriented, so as to reduce the loss of item's boundaries. By this I mean that coal is circular so a background with a whole bunch of different color circles takes away from the item itself. An example of noise oriented graphics would be wood grain, cotton fiber paper or canvas and other non-repetitive schemes.

Another possible solution but would be far more work intensive would be to accent items boarders. The would require make a second set of item images that were surrounded in say a neon-green that clearly seperate items from inventory backrounds.

Just some thoughts...

Gray is used a bit for backgrounds because it is a neutral color, and so colors appear on it.

Either a light gray, or a dark gray.

Why not just use the old background in all the previous clients? What was wrong with that? Nobody complained about that as far as I know.

Most people hadn't seen anything different either. I agree with grey, but most tones of grey are... well, grey :D
