In terms of a tie, the next highest candidate wins.

People of Bane,
I most certianly welcome a tie with Edward. I think this could work to the advantage of Bane as we can both combine our ideas. I would like to suggest that we still create a tri council with a nomination from both Cromwell and myself. I hope that this idea would be agreeable to all people and my fellow govenour.

Quite frankly, I just think that we have too different views of the world for us two to be able to work efficiently together. I am not interested in councils, or leaving the many things desperately in need of repair in the sad state of how they are at the moment. I intend to do some heavy reforms. There will be no triumvirate (No way) and unless we can come up with some sensible arrangement in regards to our executive powers, there is no point trying. I don't want to council or consult someone who most likely doesn't like anything that I would try to get in effect.
Knights don't make good politicians. While Dantagon's motivations could be very noble and good, I don't really think that he has the ability to leave his 'righteous' ideas out of the picture when the town matters are in question, even if reality was screaming the opposite into his face. Of course, if I am mistaken in that respect..
I will not refuse the offer immediatly, but I expect to hear your ideas of how exactly things would work out (and as I said, two cooks are more than enough. No triumvirates). Otherwise I foresee you vetoing each of my reform attempts, me getting frustrated and vetoing your vetos.
..and so on.
So, Dantagon?

Excuse me, but I think such a discussion is useless.
Mr. Cromwell, it may be that you couldn't work together with Mr. Marescot, but this doesn't play.
This election were planed to vote a governor of Troll's Bane, not governors.
So we can say, the election failed.
I'm not a citizen of Troll's Bane, but everyone with a littel sense of logic understand that the election has to be done again.

Indeed: You are not a citizen of Trollsbane, so be kind enough and bugger off.
We mind our own business, and we expect you to mind yours. If me and Dantagon reach an agreement, foreigners like yourself have no say about that. Frankly, it isn't a worth a damn what you say, think or feel in regards to the elections of our town. So just go to hell with your irrelevant opinions. We do what we want. What are you writing here for anyhow? You foreigners should stop trying to influence the politics of Trollsbane.
With kindest regards,
E. Cromwell

We are running out of time to get a working goverment. The dwarves sit in their caves sharpening their axes to attack. To many dwarven weeks have passed for us hold another election between us. By the time a govenour is choosen they will most likey be sitting on our doorstep asking why we do not have a firm goverment yet.
Cromwell. I say we put our differences aside and together choose a third person who we think is a good politican and will help us both achive our goal of fixing the town. The three of us can discuss and come to an agreement instead of having two people who may constantly veto each other.
I do not understand why you do not want a triumvirate. Having two govenours could cause much controversy between the two. A single govenour has to much power and no one to keep them in check. Is this not what has been happening in the past? We both have great things we wish to put through, but at the same time we have things that we can both agree on. Two heads are better than one. We just need an extra one who can agree or disagree with one of us when we get in a rut.
Let me know what you think as well as your ideas on the subject.

I would respectfully request that in the future a law be put on the books in case of a tie. But it appears to me, another election may be needed unlesss the people that tied can reach an agreement. If that is the case, all well and good. If discussing a three person governorship however, possibly going with the third, or second in line would be the choice of the people.

I for one am not willing to bend to the will of the Dwarves.
If they come, I say let them. They are the ones who will, in the end, lose the most. They cannot hope to keep the town under control and secure their connection with Silverbrand at the same time. Even if (and that is a big if) they manage to beat us in combat, it is only a matter of time before the Dwarves will get enough of constant ambushes, assasinations and discontent (sword-wielding) citizens who will trouble them in every turn and just wait for the chance to cause troubles for them.
If they indeed come.. I'll be more than man enough to (temporarily) take charge of matters until the threat has been undone, the attackers have been punished and elections can continue.
This exactly is why we will never work well together, Dantagon. You do not know to which demands and by whom you are supposed to give in to, and when simply to flip the bird to the one who is making a ridiculous demand. You are not supposed to please everyone, especially when they give you no positive reason for that.
I think that a second round of elections should take place, if for no other reason than to show the dwarves that we shall not be intimidated and that we decide over our own matters. Obeying their demands is first step towards vassalship, which is what they obviously desire. If there is a next time, then they want to name the candidates.. and then they want to be the ones voting.. and then before you know it, Trollsbane is just a surface extension of Silverbrand.

It seems obvious to me that Fooser and Cromwell are on a different level to Marescot, and that those who voted for Fooser would most likely wish to change their vote to Cromwell if either of the two.
But, I suppose now people will argue with this point repeatedly, slapping a "not necessarily" over it.

The Kingdom of Silverbrand withdraws immediately from all contracts made with former Governor Siltaris. It is not necessary for us to get threatened by some small wights who were once banned from our city and follow persecuted cults.
As long as Siltaris' murder is not thoroughly cleared up and the guilty persons not punished, Silverbrand will not admit the city and government of Troll's Bane and will cancel every trading.
The Kingdom also reserves the right to react with full strength on threats against our people and our city.
