~Concerns About the Town Guard~

Post by Lrmy »

I bring my concerns to attention before the elections are done with, because I would not like to see the same mistakes that I have witnessed in the past.

I believe the following and I believe the following has never happened in entirety.

~The Guard Captain should have an extensive knowledge of Troll's Bane's laws

~A test of the laws should have to be passed by all guard recruites before entrence into the guard.

~Before the ability to issue a ban or issue jail time, a guard should be field tested by the Guard Captain or another full guard.

~A full guard should have the ability to uphold the law by force if needed.

Note: A "full guard" is a guard who is neither a recruite or a captain.

Guards need eat. Guards need weapons. Guards need armor. That make guards need go earn copper.
Then no guards in town.

Why only dumb people understand that?

You make a fair point about the guards. They do need food and armor. Both can be provided for them with ease. I do NOT think a guard needs to be wearing a 30-50 silver armor around on duty that was bought with the town's money. A 5 silver or 10 silver armor would more than suffice. Like I stated, food can be given to the guards without much problem.

Do you not think, that if a criminal is wearing a 50 silver armour, you're going to have a guard corpse wearing a cheap suit of armour?

Just because you paid more for the armor doesn't mean it is better.

I agree, guards need to know the law and how to interpret them for the town. They shouldn't be a judge either, but stick exactly to the quotable law as enacted by the current governor.

It would help the guards if the list of criminals is kept up to date. There are old posts that may no longer be relevant, or can be subject to interpretation, so I would suggest the guards only follow the list of known criminals as posted on the latest list by the ruling authority.

The post remains unsigned but someone may have viewed a hooded figure with strands of pale blonde hair catching in the wind as she walks away from the board.
