If someone handed you a raw diamond from a mine, or even a thousand there is no chance in the world you could craft that into something worthy of creating a ring out of, Kringin. You need to realize that this is an extremely difficult thing to do and only the most skilled gem cutters are able to do so. It should not be made easier because you want to have a high success rate or save money from paying a gem cutter to do it for you in the game.

When did I mention to have a high success rate :?: I just said a tad more. I could quite possibly cut a gem, although I may need a few gems of experience then I might be able to. I am really not into gem cutting I barely ever do it. So when i get one I get one. And besides I dont hire gem cutters, maybe ..rearely, it seems impossible to trust someone these days.

'tis a pity

See ya. Chill... 8)

If you want something done right then you should have it done by an experienced person and not by yourself unless you are the experienced person. If you try to do everything yourself then you've missed the whole point of the game and would be better off playing one of the many leveling games which Illarion is not.

The only reason Niniane is saying all this about getting an experienced person to do it is because Serparduman (or something like that :D ) Told her she has the highest gem cutting experience.

No, she's for trade.
Not everyone is supposed to do everything himself. That's what specialists are for.

Paul isn't wide of the mark...
In one point he ist right, none of the now existing gemcutters with a high experience level is interested in more potential competition as themself. I have to admit that i can't exclude me with that opinion. But if there are other players which want to learn this profession... we can't prohibit it.

Now there aren't so much goldsmiths or merchants which need much cut gems, so there is a low demand on gemcutters at the moment. I hope this will change sometimes.

It will when most of the people with vast supplies of cut/uncut gems (most people who started before this new skill) are replaced by those who have started after this.

Of course, Shi. But that's still no cause to lower the requirements for this skill so anyone can grind his gems himself. Noone keeps anyone from learning this skill. But it is hard work, as it is supposed to be, not just "Oh, I've found gems, lets grind them".

Ok, Niniane first i had mentioned I am not a fan of gem cutting.

For example:
I am really not into gem cutting I barely ever do it. So when i get one, I get one. And besides I dont hire gem cutters, maybe ..rarely, it seems impossible to trust someone these days.
you see. you missed my point by a centimeter. :)

okay, the way i percieve it, gemcutting is a hobby of the rich. All the people who are gemcutting experts become experts by buying uncut gems off of other people. But then again, i guess that is how it is in real life too. I'm pretty sure that the guy who owns Kay Jewellers or something wasn't a poor man who found a diamond on the ground :D

It is not a hobby. And not for rich people. Im not rich. Yes its true, you have to buy many raw gems and the prices are rising.
The people have to learn, that not everybody has to do gemgrinding.
