A Stroll With Eli Travinus

*Snow fall and the piercing cold made this autumn unseasonable cold on Gobaith. It felt even worse for Eli Travinus still trying to recover from the aftermath of his illness. He was still unsure what exactly had come over him, but one thing was for sure, he did not like the constant coughing and sneezing that was going around. Compounded by the fact most of the people he saw sick were not people he could regularly identify. Seemed like most of the people he spent his leisure time with had departed from the harsh winter or possibly for good.

Standing next to Morgan within the east gate reminds him of all the cool nights spent around the fire Morgan used to have outside, his food smelled so good as it wafted through the air. Kaila and him would sit closely and talk to Miru, Oger, Dantagon, Rose, Mark, Armoth, Fooser, Julia, Lord Artirius, Lady Meryadeles, Dain, Grivijak, Merri, Thomas, and any other person passing by. He missed all their faces and personalities. Then again he was never a person not to meet new people, he loves Trolls Bane and all her flaws. With one hand he waves to Morgan and with the other pushes on the sturdy iron cast doors leading to Trolls Bane. With loud creak the door closes leaving him temporarily trapped in the blistering cold.

The scenery changes in Trolls Bane draw his eyes inadvertently, but as he walks by the town square toward Eliza's a familiar display intrigues his interests, the town boards. His well trained and perceptive eyes scan the topics posted. Almost immediately he comes across the new governor election section. It takes him a few minutes to finish the length of the writings and afterwards gives an exasperated sigh.


"I love politics so many emotions and ideas, I just hope they don't tear Trolls Bane apart in the process. I wonder if people will ever realize no one is perfect and no one can do what everyone wants? Are things really that bad? I must have been sick for longer than I realized. But at least there is not blood thirsty Moshran worshipers slaying people in town, or as many kidnappings as there were, or even worse the temple. I hope I can help my fellow people."

*Putting a smile on his face he turns from the board to head to the south guard tower and buy a journey book from Nebaar. He takes a leisurely stroll waving to the people he sees and stopping to talk and greet anyone that crosses his path.

[Kaila Galathil Travinus]

Shivering, her face slightly pale as if she had been ill and arms wrapped around herself trying to keep the cold out, Kaila walks up the road from the south gate quickly. Looking around to see if anyone is near and seeing no one, she holds her hand out and says some magical words after her stomach rumbles, before continuing her brisk walk. With her long, dark brown hair flying back from her face as the cold breeze moves passed, Kaila concentrates on her spell before finally looking up. Her smile grows warm, as her expressive brown eyes shine with a softness when she sees Eli. Slightly shaking her head at the gauntness of his appearance, supressing a frown, she walks up to him and puts her arms around his neck whispering "Hello Love" as she leans forward to give him a kiss.

*Not at all surprised to see his magical lover he returns the kiss passionately. He face is still gaunt and pale revealing deep lines across his face, his scarred left side is ever prominent and his face is beginning to chap in the cold atmosphere. He watches her with his deep forest green eyes back and forth his eyes glance to either of hers. He keeps her close to keep them both warm in doing so it is easy to feel the effects of atrophy on his body from the months of being bed ridden. He being taller than her which is obviously odd for an elf and a human he perches his chin on the top of her head as he brings her closer to his chest. Habitually, he caresses her back with both his hands gently up and down creating friction to heat her and his hands. It is a calm solitude that is settles his mind as he holds her. Then he whispers,

"Hello to you love. I am taking a walk trying to put names with new faces or talk to old ones. Care to join?"

After a few moments he lets her go without giving her time to answer and takes her hand and leads her back south where she just came from continuing to nod and say hello to people as they pass. The joy that came over him soon after turning from the board for no particular reason has been heightened, clearly visible in his mannerism.

*Just as they begin to walk a scream is heard from one of the towns people,

"Caelum is coming Caelum is coming! Any that are still willing to fight, to arms! Those that cannot fight you have 9 hours to evacuate the city!"

*With a quick glance to Kaila he whispers,

"I can be of no help to anyone here, You can heal, I think I will go to the mage academy to read. It is up to you love?"

Placing her arms around Eli's waist, Kaila finally starts to warm in his embrace, her shivering subsiding. Taking a deep breath of satisfaction she turns her head sideways leaning on his chest as she listens to his voice that seems to reverberate through her mind while enjoying the feeling of peace enveloping her like a glove. With a slight grin at Eli's usual boundless energy appearing to gradually return after his illness, she instinctively and without thought takes his outstretched hand, and begins to walk with him back to the gate house only to be interrupted by the scream. With ears twitching and heart racing trying to see where it comes from, she then gazes up into his eyes as she answers his whisper.

I can help heal Eli, but will that really be much help? I would rather go with you. But I worry about those we haven't seen for awhile. What will they do?

Appearing undecided, not wanting to leave him, but wondering if she should stay, her troubled eyes gaze into the distance as she continues to whisper.

This town has had so much strife, ever since I started my Navro´anai, since before we met that day at the library. I wonder what will become of it now?

*Eli rummages into his purse to make sure he has enough coins to purchase a portal from Nebaar. With a nod of reassurance to himself he focuses his full attention onto Kaila and whispers,

Kaila I am going to head to the south gate and purchase a book from Nebaar then I am going to the Academy it should be safe there and with any luck perhaps I could speak with a teacher.

*He stands holding her hand patiently waiting for a decision

Calling a dove, she quickly attaches a parchment sending it on it's way, then sighing she turns to Eli with a smile on her face

I will go to the Academy with you, I have told someone where they can send a dove if I am needed here.

Leaning closer to him but with her head slightly tilted in puzzlement she whispers

I have something I want to research anyway, a magic ritual that was done on the amulet when...............

Her ears abrubtly turn pink and she looks to the ground whispering very softly

I was cursed. I would like to find more references.

Running her hand up his arm then gently touching the scar on his face, she looks up at him with a tender look on her face before again whispering.

I never did tell you Eli, but........I am very happy you didn't leave when I wanted you to..... that you stayed to make sure that horrible looking mummy finally went to sleep.

*Eli smiles at her response and gently tugs her along to Nebaar's at steady pace. Within a few moments they are walking on the peaceful shores of the Magic Academy's island. The sun over head peeks around the collection of clouds making midday. With the sun out the temperature is quite pleasant not to mention the waters around them shimmering in the bright light is an added bonus. Eli walks at a leisurely pace embracing every moment spent with Kaila, but in the back of his mind as he watches the Academy draw nearer one thought keeps resurfacing. I hope there is a teacher here. All he would have to do is wait a bit longer, surely a teacher will take him soon, but for now I focus on the now. In all honest he was worried about the condition of Trolls Bane people yelling criminal this and criminal that and no one getting along. He wished there was something he could do for the town he was a citizen to but he could think of nothing. As they reach the reinforced doors to the Academy he whispers to Kaila,

"Go ahead and start on your research, I know with a war going on there aren't any teachers around but I want to look anyway."


*He kisses her to go about searching

*The coup d'etat upon Trolls Bane has since passed, all the while he waited to speak with a teacher at the academy with no luck. After a couple of days he decides to visit Trolls Bane and to see if all is well, but first he waits till nightfall in case their is the slightest chance a teacher shows up. With no luck he decides to set off. The trip went by rather fast thinking about ways to find and speak with a teacher. The night air was cool so he wrapped his cloak tighter and began to speed up purposefully going around the the swamp near the fly pit. Before he knew it the gates of Trolls Bane were before him and he was right outside the workshop. The night was anything but eventful, Trolls Bane didn't seem any different at the moment except there wasn't any guards about. His time was spent talking to Gilthas who had mastered his ancient and after running into Ghob and Kaila things were rather pleasant. He felt bad for spending less time with Kaila over the last few weeks but he didn't seem able to focus on anything but becoming a mage. As the night grew late Eli and Kaila went and slept by the fire near the farmlands.

When he awoke the next morning he decided to have a look around Trolls Bane since it was a more decent hour than when he arrived. As soon as he entered the east gate there stood Duchan, a mage teacher Eli liked very much and would love to speak with. Words, however, failed him and it looked like Duchan was deep in conversation with two other well spoken old language male and female. The moment had passed and Eli stood there resting on his staff feeling weak and awkward. Just then William Elderberry made his approach and greeted Eli. He didn't mind the arrogant and outspoken mage apprentice to Silas so he returned the greeting. His conversation with William was no different than the ones he had in the past, rather cordial and since William became a mage apprentice full of him casting all the spells he knew. At first this made Eli feel sad and inferior but after a few moments he felt happy just being in the presence of magic. There conversation was cut off short by his sudden drowsiness and they departed ways.

*Again Eli decided to try his luck and venture back to the Mage Academy and perhaps this time he could speak with someone.

Yawns as he wakes up and stretches a bit. He stands up slowly and continues stretching before he walks to the river just outside of Bane to wash his face and clean himself. After he's done he walks inside the town towards the workshop while eating the leftover apple pie.

On his way to the workshop, he met Eli. While still rubbing his sleepy eyes, he greeted his friend, "Elo Eli." Chuckles slightly for a moment before he smiles a bit looking at his friend.

*As Eli begins his long walk to the Mage Academy his path is impeded by an old friend that Eli has not seen in some time, Oger. With a broad smile and a wave on Oger's approach Eli says,

"It has been quite a while Ogerawa my dear friend. I hope time has treated you well and made you abundantly rich. I was on my way to the Mage Academy, but I am glad I ran into you, is there a chance you have an extra full leather armor lying around?"

*Looks happy to see his old friend and gives him a pat on the back

Shakes his head a bit as his first reply before he continues on,"Sorry, but I don't have any that's ready. So probably bring me like 15 leathers and I could sew one for you and return the leathers if there are some left." Smiles slightly to Eli.

[Kaila Galathil Travinus]

Waking up near the farmland by the fire Kaila was immediately attacked by two mummies. After a quick glance seeing that Eli had already awoken and left, she tries to run from them but they appeared to be faster then she was as they kept up with her every pace. Knowing she couldn't outfight them, she starts to heal herself with magic but soon realizes it won't help if they continue to follow her. Holding her hand out and closing her eyes, she says a few magic words while she points toward the gate house and for once, goes where she has planned. After healing herself again, Kaila walks into Trolls Bane appearing slightly dazed, her hair a little tangled around her face as she blinks trying to wake up. The site of the mummies and her nightmare of being cursed as a mummie seem to jumble in her mind temporarily as she appears to just stand for a moment catching her breath. Shaking her head, her thoughts finally clear, Kaila continues while running a hand through her hair trying to smooth it as she walks down the street. A warm smile forms on her face when she sees him and walking up to Eli, giving him a kiss, she then turns to Oger

It is really good to see you Oger, how have you been?

*chuckles a bit at Oger's proposal, he had always been fair with Eli. With an immediate smile and a nod of his head he says,

"Of course Oger I will get those to you as soon as possible. I will send you a dove."

*Turns to Kaila with his head tilted as her hair looks a bit disarray. He narrows his gaze to examine her closely before saying in a surprised tone,

"Hello Love, what exactly are you so flustered about?"

*receives her kiss with a smile before turning back to Oger with a friendly smile.

Look at Kaila and nods slightly to her with a smile before he replies.

"I'm fine, thank you for asking." Then he turns to Eli again, "I will wait for your dove. I should go and practice some more then. Farewell you two."

Walks pass them towards the workshop.

*Eli gives a firm nod to Oger and says his farewell. Then with a smile on his face he turns to look at Kaila softly into her brown eyes. He takes her hand pulling her forward to give a hug. After a few moments he releases his embrace and takes hold of her hand once again pulling her toward Nebaar to purchase a traveling book. On the way he makes sure she is comfortable going to the Academy again.

"You don't mind going to the Academy again, I know if I go there enough I am bound to find someone that I can speak with."

*Doesn't do a good job of waiting for an answer and continues toward Nebaar's. Within moments they are on the path to the Academy again, it was much like the last time they had walked to the academy. There were a few less clouds in the sky, however, which made the everything around them shine as they absorbed and reflexed the sun's characteristics. It didn't take long to get to Academy and this time Eli was hoping a teacher would be there to talk to.

Kaila hugs Eli back with a sigh of contentment and then reaching for his outstretched hand after waving goodbye to Oger, starts to walk with him whispering about her flight from the mummies. After they are at the academy she turns to him with excitement in her eyes

I have some good news also, and.. well..some not as good.

Shrugging she begins to whisper again without waiting for an answer yet looks into his eyes seeing his attention focused on her.

It appears Miru may not be in Gobiath that much, only occasionally. I told him we would miss him.

Kaila sighs looking sad for a moment as her eyes wander from his as if in thought then she turns back to Eli

But he has elected to rent his house out to us. We will have a place to stay when not at the Academy, or Trolls Bane.

Giggling with eyes that sparkle she whispers as she reaches for his chest leaning close

And no burning of sibinac this time, even if I do get sick and....

Her ears turn pink as she looks to the ground

Throw up on the floor.

*Eli grins a heartwarming smile and his eyes show the love he has for hear hanging onto every word. As she begins to talk he watches her lips move while unconsciously dampening his own. When she is finished speaking he gives her a reassuring nod to indicate that he was listening closely, but the expression upon his face shows a mixture of emotions. Partly remorseful and the other half happiness.

"I must say I would trade having the presence of Miru over his house any day, but I shall not refuse the offer of such a close friend and will gladly look over his estate as it were my own. I shall miss Miru deeply and can only hope that Lord Zhambra will lead him back more often than not to visit with me."

*With a deep sigh very much characteristic of him during thoughtful times, he begins to peer closely around the Magic Academy first to the training ground to see if anyone is practicing their magic then to slated stone pathway that runs around the perimeter of the courtyard. The grounds of the Academy were not new to him as he had once been a Mage Apprentice to the Lady Meryadeles but the luster and awe of the Academy had since worn off when his teacher left. Every time he came back here it had been a reminded of the disappointment of losing the one true ambition he had, becoming a mage. Kaila's presence obviously acted as comfort to him, but he was a man without direction at this point and all he could do was keep coming here searching for a teacher.

*Taking Kaila's hand he starting pulling her to each classroom opening each door to peer in to see if a teacher was about. As he opened the first door he takes a deep breath.........

*Each classroom or building Eli takes Kaila to is another disappointment, after an entire day of searching Eli turns to Kaila and says,

"I don't believe teachers teach at the Academy anymore, Why don't you head to Greenbriar and look after the house? I will be along later I still want to hang around here just in case there is the slightest possibility that a teacher will arrive."

*His voice rings with hope however feeble and fruitless his efforts have been so far. With a nod of confidence he pulls her close to give her a kiss then looks back to the training ground. The evening sun envelops the grounds in a spectrum of yellows, oranges, and reds absolutely breathtaking from any vantage point. With an indolent disposition he begins to make his way toward the middle of the training square. Halfway to his destination he gives a momentary glance over his shoulder to Kaila then turns back to watch where he is going. Dragging his feet somewhat causes the dirt to swirl up and collect on the fringe of his brown robe. Remnants of ash and bones are strung across the grounds sparsely, where Mages no doubt procured skeletons to practice upon. The air was stagnate and only a faint calls of crickets and owls could be heard around him. Suddenly his voice is bursts force to echo over all others,

"[anc] ORL KAH"
"[anc] MES PEN"

*The words are not the common dialect but of the ancient language of the gods, with all his might he concentrates on the words and their meaning but nothing happens apart from the diminishing echo of his voice. He gives a long drawn-out sigh not knowing what else to do. Inhaling sightly after his frustrated sigh he sits down to take a rest on the increasingly cold slab of earth. Anyone that entered the Academy could see him.......
