Just for those ranting spammers in the proposals board.

I say 'yay.'
I'm all for it. I never did like the idea of being taught by mage teachers anyhow.
I think doing quests or tasks for the runes you want to learn is the way to go.

This is ridiculous, you can't just make a new topic and expect us to post in it, or THAT rubbish will carry on. We do not NEED that system, and if we argued about it here, noone would care and it would be implemented anyway, no matter who opposed.

And no, I don't think NPC teachers are needed -.-

There are places for students right now. If your character isn't getting taught, has asked for a place to every teacher, written on the academy boards etc. then maybe it's saying something, no?

If you can't get a teacher NOW then you're not going to just because you can make illusions and heal people.

i, personally am against magic. so i'm happy, if the system does not work.
but from a general point of view, NPC-teachers, or any other change seems better, than the not functioning "learning-system" that fails now.

Korm is hot.
But I'd rather have the magic system fixed somehow. If the NPC does, it then it's fine.

we have a game, that is in preparing to function for many players.
but we are just few at the moment. so i don't think it wise, to implement systems, that require "manpower", like player-chars as teachers.

for mages, in my opinion it should be easy. NPC teaches one spell, tells you to use it on NPC "X".
"X"drops an item, that you give an NPC teacher, when you want to learn the next.
and so on. till a certain level. for higher levels stay with the player - player system.

I'm all for it, to be frank. I think the current system is just too painfully slow. It would ease the burden on current teachers too.

in 3 and a half months a teacher can teach 3 students and they can have learnt bhona, meaning 12 new spaces. That's all it takes, 3 and a half months for someone to learn EVERY rune.

Hasn't it been more than 3 and a half months since this new system was introduced? A lot more? January the 30th was when this system was introduced, but I'll be fair, give a month for choosing appprentices etc etc. So that's 6 months......

It was originally 1 rune at a time, and teachers have disappeared. When the current pupils are done, provided that they are accepted, there will be a lot more teachers, and a lot more places, for new mages.

Well I won't become inactive if I become a teacher, as long as I still have students, I can tell you that. ;) . If I do, I will see them all through to completion.

Yeah, but I won't be so sure about the others. I think the past ones vowed never to quit either, but meh..

You have had your break too in the past, and you'll never know what funny things the staff comes up with to piss the players off.

At any rate. I think that it's time to end this failed social experiment. We can give the basic runes with an NPC (just like that, or more like: Suitable attributes + Static quests.. at least if my preferences were used here). I'm willing to give the teachers a shot with the higher level runes.

But what we have now is not sufficient. We've been waiting for six odd months and I think that the time is running out for the system. How long, exactly, are we going to wait before the problems sort themselves out (assuming they do, at all?) ?

Cromwell is right.
