Pack Rations
This is a new object cooks can make, using flour, meat, and/or vegetables and/or fish.
This food is pretty much biscuits made from one of those materials above, aiming at producing a food which is filling, though probably tasteless and not very good for your body in the long run.
Its treated as 'bad food' and gives double effect when you eat it, however it gives a lot to the food bar; it is also lightweight.
It can be made by cooks with circa 50% skill.

This is aimed to replace food potions, which I never lyked...

"Normal Rations", and with increasing skill "Iron Rations",
with even less weight, and a bit more nutrition worth.
Maybe it is worth considering to implement the lowest of low (yet worldwide most common)food:
Grain + water + bowl ((+fire))= *juck*((but we all love it..especially our purses))
I think it could replace the sausages and mushroom soup as beginner meal.
((And we had something beside apples for these cold winter nights.))

I don't like the idea that with 25 copper you can fill your food bar instantly, without needing to buy from cooks...Richard Cypher wrote:Its called by food potions, they are only 25 copper
What is a cook going to sell? You can already get free ham and lighweight food potions for free..
At least with rations a cook can sell, and they're light so its a preference to ham or fish, since you'll have more space for the loot...

... Food potions restore a whole food bar and are easily bought from npcs. Ham is easily accessible from the tavern to make. Cakes can be bought from npcs and fill a food bar. The only thing cooks can make that you can't get elsewhere are dishes. Who is going to go round looking for a cook to get a dish when you can just get a food potion? Also, dishes are hard to make and need lots of ingredients so ideally you can't sell them cheaper for food potions. How does a cook make money therefore?

A cook wouldn't make money selling these at 20 copper? If they still fill the food bar... but are very light weight, it would be a positive for miners, and crafters when carrying a heavy load.AlexRose wrote:Juliana D'cheyne wrote:I don't see why the cook couldn't sell at a lower rate then the potions. What is a cook going to sell?

It´s finished, but our chieftains have to give their blessings to it...abcfantasy wrote:Oh yes, I think it's being worked on.Keikan Hiru wrote:Diet System anyone?
Of course I can script that potions count as "free food" and are therefore bad for the char´s condition...but I think with the diet system cooks will earn more money anyway.
Actually I didn´t want food gained by potions or magic to affect the char´s condition.

I'd add it.pharse wrote:Actually I didn´t want food gained by potions or magic to affect the char´s condition.
Since its, as already evaluated, a rather cheap and easy way to fill your food bar.
When it does not affect your DoM, I could even go as far as raising my DoM Bonus to the max and then live happily ever after with cheap potions from NPCs.
