Cooking System
Currently, when a cook levels up, he gains the same recepies as another other cook before him, same as the other crafts, but for cooking I beleive there should be something different.
Firstly, cooking items shall be divided into these groups
Vegetable Based [Contains soups and vegetable foods]
Fruit Based [Anything which is made from fruit]
Meat Based [Sausages, Meat food]
Fish Based [Fish ect..]
Baking [Cakes, Bread, Rolls..]
Misc [Anything else]
-
When a person attains enough skill to gain new recepies, the server randomises the new recepies one by one from the groups up there. For example you might gain 2 vegetable based and one meat based, or 1 meat, 1 fish and 1 baking recipie.
The randomisation however, is dependant on many factors
1) The Race of the Character
2) What products he has cooked recently
3) The cook may also read COOKERY BOOKS from the library, to raise the chance of a particular recepie type to come.
===
Advantages:
1) It makes more sense for cooks to know how to cook different recepies, then all cooks know the same thing
2) Racial Differences come into play. There is no reason for a lizard chef to learn how to cook sweet fruit based foods, in the same light, an orc cook wouldn't learn anything more then how to cook meat dishes for his tribe.
3) More Roleplay Opportunities: One cook could be a specialist in fruit based desserts, while an other could make amazing meat dishes, so you'd need both if you want to throw a party
4) Would tie in perfectly with the new eating system
5) If I have a lizard cook, I don't want to learn how to cook tons of useless stuff before I can get the fish i actually can use.

This isn't making anything harder O_oPellandria wrote:Cooks allready have a hard job, goddammit why make everything harder we should stop at some border where realismus is taken far too serious and sucks all the fun out of the game.
If you have a lizard cook for example, you can learn how to make fish dishes first, then the other dishes (if you continue).
I fail to see why this is harder, care to explain?

Ok i make an example:
Smith level 10(just a random number): can create 10 items
Cook lvl 10: 10 items
with your system:
Cook Lvl 10: 5 items, because he just uses one and the same receipt, because he can't afford other ressources and if he finally has the ressources he need to lvl up even more to get better/more usefull receipts.

No, if a cook always makes fish items, he'd still learn other recepies. If a cook learns ALL the fish items, he'll still gain new recepies, just not fish ones.Ok i make an example:

So both cooks would by able to create 10 items.

I think we need a better explanation
Let say we have 3 cooks, An orc, a halfling, and a human.
V A B C
Fr A B C
Fi A B C
Meat A B C
Ba A B C
Misc A B C
All three of them reach level at the same tyme. And the server randomly chooses the recepies.
The orc has a greater effinaty to meat, and less for fruit and vegetable. So he has more of a chance to get recepie A for meat, and less of a chance to get recepie A for Fruit or Vegetables.
The halfling would probably be an expert in fruit and vegetables, but stink at meat, again this would be reflected.
The human has an equal chance for all.
Obviously the items needs to be shuffled around a bit, and some recepies can only be reached when you have enough skill (in which case it ignores that recepie set).

@ Pharse: Lizards 'great' food is cooked fish, which is hard to make, while sausages (orc 'cooked' food) is easier to make.

I like this idea. I have long thought how odd it is that cooks all make the exact same items as one another. Some variety would be nice. I personally would like to cook a steak with onions and mushrooms. Or a sausage dish with sausages. But barring any creative input from the cook, a more random menu would be interesting.

allright, then let me list what great food we got as long as I remember.
Backing: Bread and these little bread rols and 3 cakes
Fish: 2 fish receipts
Meat: Sausage, Sausage with bread, one Soup
"fruits":can't think of anything
Vegetables: 3 different soups, nothing else I guess
Misc: Nothing
and you still want to divide this, I guess we first need more fooditems before we can start to make a differenc in learning.

Exactly... But I wanted the order to make sense. I don't want halflings with meat only recepies, or lizards with fruit and sweet cakes as recepies, hense the division.pharse wrote:Besides this, I don't think that the purpose of this proposal was to mix the recipes as themselves, rather to randomise the order when a cook learns a new recipe.
The division are off the edge of my head, they can be changed...
But you get the idea.
Well... I think the staff will do allot of othet things before the go to the fighting system again.Executor wrote:Sounds cool, but is cooking important enough to spend this much time making a new system? Shouldnt for example fighting be made more interesting first?
And...cooking is for a cook so important like fighting for a fighter. So you can't really say this is more important than this.
