No, it isn't that it was taken away. It is that it was taken away with no rp excuse and the players of the temple were lied to.
Agreed.
Then our little haven was destroyed completely.

Where was the RP reason for its disappearance?
I didn't see one.

The Temple was the best RP I think that has ever happened to Illarion. You might not have liked it or but you do not like when someone robs you but you have to RP it. That is part of RP you get the good and the bad. The Temple was bad but it presented so much good RP. Especially if you were part of it. If anyone had joined into the Temple and was their a lot they will all say it was a good thing.

Personally I think evil people ruin the game by creating much unnecessary stress on other players worrying about getting pk'd. I think a friendly atmosphere is far more fun than a worrysome one, and I'm far less uptight about roleplaying with chars I never seen before. Theres no ample punishment or way to punish evil chars, so I think they might as well be off limits. It may be just a game, but if your char has any skills its an investment too, and the fun return on that investment can be easily cut short with a n00b pWn0r around the corner. -This isn't appealing to people.

For one, we never went around killing random people. And you are only mad cause you have a crafter that gets robbed. :P

For one, Retlak and Galthran did and they were part of the temple last I checked (via personal experience). My "crafter" only ever got actually robbed once, then killed after he gave everything he had with him at the time (not much, robber said sorry ooc after my char didn't drop anything). So wearing full armor 24/7 and carrying a bunch of potions and teleport books became a priority. Given the amount of robbery attempts and randomly attacked by noob theifs off and on makes my general demeanor twards "evil people" a pretty negative one.

They must have ;) And BTW Galthran was gone when Avalyon took over. The PO had quit by then. Retlak gained summoning and never used it to the extent he could. I saw him spare clouding many, many people. The Temple was NEVER out just to cloud random people.

Please don't edge them on. I understand people really enjoy playing bandits, theifs, and all out bad characters... but in moderation please... If 10 people play bandits, and really high level well trained bandits at that, to every 1 person who plays a good character who spends more time role playing over training... well... it really hurts role play. Not only does it really hurt role play, but those of us who work hard to play the good guy get drained really quickly. It isn't fun to constantly chase characters out of town, or tell them to leave and them draw their sword and attack you. RP fight would be fun, but not getting pwned after spending hours after hours training and not getting anywhere.

This really drains those of us who play good characters. Trust me. I am the sole active knight in my guild, and it hurts not having back up and not getting any new pages or squires because people get drained from playing the good guy. So they end up playing characters who aren't good characters, or characters who are just middle road characters. It isn't fun and it hurts us as a player. If you don't believe me, play a good character, a completely good character for a year ig, maybe longer if you like them as a character. Make that your sole character, and only play your others occasionally. Then you may understand how taxing it is to play the good guy and not have any help.

So by all means, do play bandits and theives, and even make a new temple if you feel the need. But please, remember who your playing with, and that even if they are playing against you, they are still playing for the same reason you are, because it is fun.

Please help us enjoy the game as much as you do. Be nice to us once in a while. Sometimes we don't want to constantly chase a bandit out of town. Once in a while, leave when asked. Keep robbing to a minimum. Put a limit on it. You don't need to rob from every person in town when the guards aren't on. It only pisses people off. If you create a temple, please don't terrorize the isle and take it over in a day. Spread things out, or else you will have the isle and no one to play with.

Sorry for the lengthy rant, but please. We want to enjoy this game as much as you do. Play fair and play nice so you will still have people to destroy ig.

The real question is not, where are the bad guys, the real question is, what is "evil"? who create a char with the aim to make a bad guy create rarely a good played role. The best evil chars are those witch think they aren't evil.

I also think there are enough evil chars ig. You just must stop to thing a blackmagic-tempel-mosranpraying-orc-lich-killrt is the only form of evil. E.g. i think many of the racist dwarfs witch wand a war are for many people evil in some point of view.

What thief has ever gotten away with more than 10 silvers at a time? Heck, once I had a thief rob four people and he got 6 silvers! The only time I ever say some one get more than 10 silvers was when a group of about 7 people went "banditing". There are no more notorious bandits or thieves. Djironnyma, I agree that evil is a perspective thing.

I am curious to know the names of all these black magic-temple-Moshran worshiping-orc-lich-killers. Really, I see none. Except orcs, since when are they evil in Illarion? How many people even play orcs anymore?

but try to keep in mind, that a normal char needs two hours RL or more, just to earn 2 silvers.
so if you rob 6 silvers a day, you frustrated four crafters or low level fighters a day.

Did I mention 5 of the silvers were from one person?

I play a dislikeable person and it works. Almost everyone hates him.

It's not always about killing people or starting a complot.

i think, this hits the point.

a "bad" char has not to be a robber. there are a lot of possibilities, to play "bad".
all those primitive robbers just certify a lack of imagination of their POs.

;)
Yes, I felt evil taking all that silver, so I bought the arena and gave it to him :P (Since I knew it wasn't gonna be a long-lasting char, obviously a co-owner will become owner when owner is gone.)

double post rawr

I liked when my char was paranoid of Meriel because he thought she was controlling Cliu's mind to take over town. (Back then Cliu was governor)
I liked when Galthran ran around my char threatening him all day long.
I liked when Dravian kidnapped my blind kid and then an epic battle in the temple's bowels took place D: with lightening and brave gay knights :D
I LOVED how Orren Padick would keep ignoring my teen bandit (Johnny Lant?) when he would be running away from guards!

"Sir Padick! Help please! They're chasing me!"
"Oh? Who's chasing you?"
"The guards!"
"Oh, that's rather unfortunate."
"You've gotta help me! Guide them in the wrong direction alright?"
"Hmm? Yes, yes.. whatever."
*runs*
*Guard arrives* "Did you see some young chap running?*
"Yes, he went that way." *Points towards him*

RAWR

My 3 favourite character ever forever and ever:
Orren Padick
Galthran
Meriel

Ever.

Who says you have to steal 10 silver a day, does your character need that much per log in? I would think the mere fact that someone cooperates and at least gives you something or tries to make the incodent fun is enough. It really does frusterate people with low level characters when we have one bandit wreaking havoc on everyone in town. And truthfully, if you really think about it... bandits shouldn't even be in town. Bandits are people who wait by the road sides for travelers. They aren't people who wander into town, expecially when they have a price on their head. In Illa it seems like the definition of a bandit is someone who goes into town and threatens people, runs from the guards, and then comes back when they are sure that they are offline.

I have to disagree with you Dan. When I was playing a bandit, I would go into towns, and way lay travelers on the road. Sometimes if I was asked to leave town I would not to cause problems. Other times I would just bash their skulls in. Somedays I would not rob at all, or say I got a few silvers then I would call it quits. I would even go into town when Guards were on rob someone then just walk away. Come back later with guards still on and nothing happened because I could RP my character correctly...for the most part. Not all bandits are people who go online when no guards are on and rob people then run away. I have been chased by guards several times, though you all never caught me, or I beat them silly back in the day. Good times. It is the many improperly RPed thieves and bandits and "evil" characters as you put it that give the few "good" RPer's a bad name.

Actually it is not about the question what a 'evil' char is and if there might be too many of them.

Rather, the main problem with chars who are commonly titled as 'evil' is that they force other parties to interact with them in a quite heavy and demanding way.

To explain my point:
'Good' chars usually do not force other people to join their RP. They normally do not influence others RP very much, if the other Player does not want it.

On the contrary, 'evil chars' often influence other player's roleplay quite a lot. First and foremost by robbing or attacking people.
Well, if that would happen only a few times, fine. But robbing every day some people destroys fun for the other players.

So, it is all about balancing. Be aware of the consequences of your evil chars' acions and their influences on other players' RP.

As I have mentioned many times before: It is easy to harm a more or less stable system by random actions. Keep that system working is hard work you have to do continously.

Thanks for considering,

Seems to me that POs who fight "evil" chars are really against them, and those who play evil chars think they are great. Maybe we should get better at remembering that ic and ooc are to completely didderent things. We dont have to dislike the PO of an evil char, just because our characters hate his character.

(bandits are in towns as well.. Even in modern cities)

I've never EVER met a robber ingame. at least not lately. I would prefere more of them actually.
