A new life

Katherine was standing a few meters away from the elven building of Tol Vanima and gazed into the distance. She looked tired. Her unborn child gave her troubles to fall asleep and if finally asleep, she was tortured by nightmares. "Those worries are normal in this time", Katherine thought and tried to calm herself while watching the sun lowering in the west.

"You shouldn't be walking around too much in your state, Katherine."

Looking over her shoulder Katherine gazed to the elf who spoke to her in his warm, friendly although a little chiding voice. A smile spread across her lips.

"I can't lie anymore, Azuros.", she replied to him and turned around a little. "And my dear child falls asleep at least while I'm moving..."

With slow steps she approached to the elf in his blue, long robes. He always made such a calm and harmonic impression. It felt good to be around him. Tiredly Katherine rested her forehead against her friends shoulder and with a smile Azuros stroke over her head.

"The little one is kinda active right now", Katherine whispered and straightened to led Azuros hand to her stomach. "Do you feel it?", she chuckled but before Azuros was able to answer anything, Katherine suddenly winced and a groan escaped her. Pain seemed to struck her as she was grabbing onto Azuros arms.

The hot sun, the sand arround him and the water rushing forward to touch his toes and back into the ocean, were exaclty what Enwell needed and desired when he walked to the beach near the lighthouse.

During the last weeks, Enwell lived rather distracted. Too much on his mind to be the responsible templar, to play the ever-calm and untouchable authority or to be the good example for those who should consider all his steps as the path to enlightment by the balance.

He needed a vacation, which was actually his first real free time, since he joined the Order, three years ago. And Everytime when he stroked over Katherines belly he felt not the least bit bad about it. Maybe some may say, he is letting his aquantinces down, but in his oppinion he'd rather abandon them than his preagnant wife. Though, he wasn't much of a good husband neither, the last days. Of course, he was there for her, thats why he descided to go back to Gobaith, but still.. His mind was full with worries, almost hunting him. The last moments of clearity before Katherine gives birth to their child and the great euphory deflects his mind for some time.

And there on this beach, he meditated, he swum, he chilled, thought a lot of course and enjoyed spending time alone.. At least untill now..

Azuros let Katherine grab unto his arms as she winced in pain. Without need for a second thought, he knew what was happening. "The child...", he whispered to himself as he began to walk the frail woman towardst he man building in Vanima.

With great caution, he lowered her down the old wooden staircase that led to the basement. Before long, Azuros had managed to help Katherine unto one of the small beds that were sprawled around the room. His face contorted slightly as she continued to react to the pain of her contractions.

"The child is coming..."

Without letting the worry within show in his face, he began to gather some supplies from a nearby wooden chest. He began to grind some herbs on his mortar, crushing the medicinal essence from them. On a small container of water he let the herbs fall, and after allowing the water to attain their properties, he soaked a rag into the water.

With a gentle touch, he applied the cold rag on Katherine's forehead as the child's birthing continued to trouble the woman.

Sweat ran over Katherine's forehead and she took heavy breaths as another of the contractions faded.
"Azuros...", she paused... "Someone needs to find Enwell... he must be.. somewhere around..."

Her eyes widened a little as she felt how her dress became slowly wet... her water broke. "Azuros...?", she spoke his name helplessly and leaned back down then... She was afraid and worried. Closing her eyes she silently prayed to Oldra.
