Leumas has a seat on a stump at the top of a hill over looking the city it is just outside of, bored out of his mind.

"Today is such a bore, and I am so tired of reading it is hurting my head. Why... why can i not find something entertaining?"

Leumas picks his staff up and begins to make fire swirl about the tip of it.

"There are so many things i have yet to be taught...I wonder..."

Leumas shoots a fireball up into the air and watches it go straight up intot he sky at a blazing speed. Keeping his eyes fixed on the sky for a few moments he sees the fireball coming straight back down and rolls out of the way, consequently also rolling down the hill as the fireball struck the stump where he was sitting.

Leumas began to scream as he rolled down the large hill until coming to a crashing halt barely missing someone's feet.

Leumas stands up and dusts off his robe and looks at the person he fell before, then looks up at the top of the scorched hill.

"You didn't see anything did you?"

Kaila, practicing her new mage skills in a place she thought no one would see her worst mistakes, points her hand and even crosses her fingers before saying the magic words. Right before the spell is cast, she closes her eyes and tenses her body hoping not to wind up in the brances of a tree as last time. With a sigh and simultaneously opening her eyes, a smug look on her face when feeling no wall or bushes, her eyes widen hearing a definite scream that seems to be getting louder. Standing very still afraid to move, she turns to the sound just in time to see him roll to a stop at her feet. With soft brown hair briefly blowing back from the breeze created she looks at him with widened eyes as he stands, shaking her head "No, sorry, I was...." she turns slightly with a puzzled experssion then vaguely points behind her "back there somewhere, what happened?"

"heh long story but yeah...you didn't see a thing then good...dont look at the smokey top of the hill then hehe"

tries to divert her attention from the hill

"lovely day out today heh"

Kaila follows his gaze and looking up to the smoke on the hill, a small grin grows on her face "You are an apprentice also?" as she speaks with a twinkle in her brown eyes. Leaning forward she whispers quietly "I have the same problem". She holds one arm out showing him the scorched place on the sleeve, and if he looks more closely he may also see other places on her clothes that appear slightly burned.

"Well i can fireball very well i just umm... well... i was wondering it fireballs of a magical nature would come straight back down like other things and...before you try it...they do hehe."

Leumas begins walking off with her trying to look innocent.

"Well" Kaila sits down on the ground bending her legs and holding them with her hands while her head rests on the top of her knees. A sigh escapes her lips and looking ahead with a thoughtful look that may even convey an impression of loneliness, her voice very low as she speaks "you are lucky you can decide to do something, most of mine wind up with grapes falling from the sky and landing on my head" unconsciously she runs a hand through the back of her hair before clasping her legs again.

Leumas sits down beside her with a hand on her shoulder.

"you know, nobody is better at magic than the elves. It takes time to even get started with it. I've been at it for years and I'm just now to the point where i dont engulf myself in flames while trying to freeze water" Said leumas while chuckling.

"So how long have you been at this whole magic thing?"

Kaila quickly answers "Oh, not long, Eli and I are fairly new apprentices" then a frown briefly crosses her face "well, I guess he is not one now" and with a sigh she turns back to him "but, you have studied for years?" Then before he could even start to answer she blurts out another question "What you have been doing, and what was it was like while you studied?" Reaching for a blade of grass she plucks one and begins twirling it in her fingers absently while looking at him curiously.

A little shape hides in the nearest tree, listening intently to the conversation, having decided to inspect the commotion first hand. At one particular sentence she gasps, and loses balance, falling from the tree in a heap on the ground. The shape gets up, trying to maintain dignity and fluttters over to the pair, when you see it is a fairy.

"Excuse me? Did you just say no-one is better at magic than the elves?"

And she puffs her chest out in a haughty manner.

Leumas takes a step back, looking at both of them.

"well, much like learning anything else, an old guy stands in front of you telling you what to do and what not to do and why. ummm as for you, yes i did say that. I am of course reffering to the elder elves when i say that. Just curious, how long have you been listening to us huh?!"

Leumas leans against his staff which is firmly stood on the ground, waiting for his explanation

The fairy shakes her head in a disappointed manner.

"You should know, that while elves possess excellent magical capability, that the fae have slightly more. As for your question, that does not matter."

And the fairy let out another sigh, and frowning, she turned and fluttered away once again.

Kaila's eyes widen at the abrupt appearance of the fairy and moving her arms from around her legs while turning her head a look of amusement comes over her face at the words exchanged but she remains quiet and a gradual, haunted look replaces it as her thoughts seem to drift while turning her head toward the woods. Not even bothering to brush the hair from her face generated by the wings of the fairy as she fluttered away, Kaila stands and looks at the sky then back to him "I would love to talk more, but it is time for me to be getting back to the Monastery."
