daggers and short swords

just not sure about something.

what abilities does a dagger or a shortsword give you? so far, it seems to me that 2 handed swords are stronger, just as fast, and can attack two tiles away (that's a huge plus right there) only problem is they weigh a *little* more

small weapons are faster (though I can't tell the differance, don't even know if they really ARE faster) only attack from one tile away, and are extremely weak.

is there any hidden qualities I don't know about?

Well, 2 handed weapons are really slow now, what i have see now the fighting system is rather balanced (what Ive seen, i havent met archers yet). I think even my drow sword and a shield is better than just a bastard sword, not sure, but i dont know about daggers.

Dagger = Puncture.

Sword = Slashing.

The difference is the skill.

well yes I know that, but what is the differance in the skill? one gets a slight advantage to some armour?

what I'm getting at here is I think that daggers and such are underpowered. notice how everyone has a bastard sword or a two hander. that's because they're just plain better in every way.

Puncture weapons tend to be alot faster and armor somewhat weaker to them, thats about it. Not everyone uses a bastard or 2 hander, if you miss alot your as good as dead. I think you should play and find out on your own instead of speculating based on what other people do.

I have been playing. that's how I got this info. everyone I duel (or at least every human, even the ladies, and do take note that humans are about 75% of the island) uses a huge sword.

when I was dueling with sombody, I used daggers. my dagger skill at the time was a dark dark green. he said it didn't hurt him that much. then I used a two hander, which was a dark dark blue, he said it hurt alot more. I'm just making an observation.

Yes, this may be a valid point. I consider the resistance of armor against puncture too high. Maybe I will look into balancing of the values again. Thanks for pointing this out.

Its forbidden to plan trades with others over OOC

You should write this into the "Trading Board" asking if someone wants to sell such a sword ( in a IG manner ). I'm sure you find not only one who sells you a sword.

Or you go ingame and ask some characters there. You have a good chance of success this way too.
