Quiet Reflections

Post by Thomas Greenbottom »

((Open RP, for awhile at least))

Thomas sat quietly on a stool in the tavern, swinging his legs idly. He hadn't felt happy for weeks. He really hadn't felt anything. His mind went to the bard who asked him why he left his family. He thought,

"Why am I still here? I've got enough silver to last us a life time. I'm also skilled enough to sell my wares in our little village. We would be together again... I might be happy. Ever since the business shut down, things really went down hill. It's almost funny...

Thomas sat there for several more minutes before nodding to himself and moving to his depot. He started to pack his bags, carefully wrapping the pershiables in cloth.

"Home... I'm going home...

The person passed by, only giving the fellow a short look, then hesitated.
For some moments she watched him getting his stuff ready.
Suddenly she realized, what he was up to, and a wide grin rose in her, since then, thoughtful face.

As always, she thought of herself,
and how..amusing it would be, to return..HOME..for herself.
Either to Salkamar, where her true qualities had ever been so appreciated,
or to Albar, where some dustcovered parchments offered fifty gold coins on her reappearance.
Maybe it also would be fine to continue the, most interesting, experience in Gynkeesh.

With a sneer of digust, directed to herself, she continued to watch him.

Tom continued to stuff his bag with sausages and silvers. He turned as the girl walked in the tavern, but only smiled slightly. He took his pack on his shoulder and turned to the door, stepping softly. He thought,

"To the harbor then..."

Tom wondered the streets of Troll's Bane slowly, looking at the various crowds and sighing to himself.

Juliana stands in the shadows on the side of the building with arms crossed while leaning her hip and shoulder against the wall. She wears her silversteel armor, red greeves, and two poison serinjah in their sheath, along with two regular serinjah in her belt. With black visor helmet in hand, occasionally looking down the street as if waiting for someone, her pale blonde hair falls down almost covering the left side of her face as she sees him walk by. In a very low voice, almost a whisper she speaks to him "Hello Thomas"

Tom shifts the bag on his shoulder, looking up to the woman with a faint smile.

"Hey there Juliana... How are you?"

Tom's voice is thin and wavering, sounding very distant. His hair blows slightly in the winter breeze, and he looks up to the sky as snowflakes begin to fall. He thinks to himself,

I wonder if I look as sad as I sound... Boy I'm a sissy... I'm glad Merri isn't here... He'd definitely point that out...

A smile slowly forms across his face, as memories of his time on Gobiath flood his mind. He sits his bag down and leans against it, looking back to Juliana.

Unfortunately, Merri does show up. He walks toward the tavern from the east gate, huddled in a cloak because of the starting snow. As he nears the tavern he see's Juliana and Tom, "Hiy--". Tom? What is wrong? You got a big load in that pack. Merri gives him a little push and a smile, "Going mining?"

Tom turns to the halfling, chuckling slightly even though he didn't want to.

"Oh... No, I'm thinking about going back home... I don't really have a purpose right now... Just kinda living... Lonely, you know?"

Tom speaks quickly and mumbles the last part of his sentence. He looks down to his hairy feet and crunches the snow between his toes.

"Tom!? You were going to leave without saying goodbye?"

Merri looks to him with eyes that begin to tear.

"Why... Why are you leaving? I just thought of a new idea that would make us both even richer! I... need you on this one."

"...and your my best friend here."

A smile finds Tom's face as he says,

"I didn't know how to say goodbye... but you have always drove a hard bargain... and you are my best friend... anywhere! *laughs slightly* My wife would always like a new kitchen in the house. Well... what's the plan?"

Tom smiles while leaning on his pack.

Listening quietly to them talk with a grin on her face and a sparkle in her green eyes, she suddenly turns her head to the side where a very faint movement in the shadows may be seen as she whispers quietly "Are you ready to go?" Then nodding to an answer unheard she appears to melt deeper into the shadows as a very faint sound is heard before disappearing completely "Farewell Thomas, Merri"

Merri looks to Juliana and waves bye to her. He then looks to Tom with a face lit up with joy, "This means you are going to stay?"

Merri then smacks Tom in the head, "Don't scare me like that!" He then stars to dance in a circle, laughing.

"Hrm... Well back to business! The plan is, a banking company! Call it... T&M Loans and Deposits or something. We have plenty of money to start it off! We just have to be wise! What do you say?"
