The other side
Dash walked solumnly into the empty tavern, looking straight towards the floor. He shut the door behind him and headed toward his favorite seat near the fire.
What has become of my life? I am not cruel... there is just nobody for me here. No friends, no family, nothing. If just one person would show me some compassion...
With a quite old, but good lute in his lap he started to play a beautifully sad melody, that most would be amazed to hear coming from his nimble fingertips. As he continued to play, he started to sing in a sad, slow tone. Again, most would be surprised to hear Dash making this music.
I walk into the room.... You don't have to scream i can hear you...
I cry, the pipe flies, you get your highs from confrontation.
I tried to make it past.... I always knew it could never last.
Can't this family have one day, to get away, from all the pain?
And through the night i see the light, shinin' from the neigbor's window.
I dream of life where i'm safe, in a home where I am not alone...
Some day I will lay me down, on the grass where everything is greener.
It always seems so good on the other side... the other side...
I'm sick of all the weight, you can taste the hate in the air...
Running through this family, uncomortably, Its burning me!
Is anybody there? In your eyes there's nothing to see...
Just because your dreams have died, don't drag me down... I've still got mine!
And throught the night I see the light, shinin' from the neighbor's window.
I dream of life where I'm safe, in a home where i am not alone...
Some day i will lay me down, on the grass where everything is greener...
It always seems so good on the other side... the other side
It always looks so good... on the other side
It always seems so good... on the other side
It always looks so good....
It always seems so good!
Dash puts down the lute, anger in his eyes. He breathes heavily and throws the lute against the wall, smashing it to bits.
You did this to me. You made me what I am. I will never forgive you for it.
...Hopefully I can forgive myself...

Haniel pulls his hat back slightly to rest on the top of his ears and opens the tavern door. He looks around the room and notices the broken lute on the ground. He looks to the obviously angry man and smiles lightly,
"Well, well. Having a bad day are we Eddy? What's wrong? Lute go out of tune? You can fix that you know..."
Eddy looks up, fire in his eyes,
"Not now Grim. Not now. Get the hell out."
Haniel shrugs, Eddy should have known that he was kidding... He tips his hat softly to the human and walks over to the opposite door in the tavern,
"I do hope you are able to fix that lute... such a waste."
Haniel opens the door and walks out, hearing the man curse quietly as he departs.

Fianna enters the tavern and moves toward her favorite seat at the bar, stumbling a little as she walks across the broken fragments of the lute. Pausing midstep and looking around, she notices Lucky sitting sullenly by the fire. Instantly a guilty expression crosses her face and she looks away.
After standing uncertainly for a few moments with Lucky refusing to look at her, she musters her courage and moves to the fire, taking a seat next to him. She sits quietly for several long minutes, the tension growing before the awkward silence finally becomes too much to bear.
"This is an unusually dark mood for you. Will we ever laugh together again?"
She keeps her gaze directed toward the fire as she speaks, not daring to look at him.

Braydar walks into the tavern and looks around as he always does. Seeing Fianna and Eddy sitting by the fire, he makes his way over to the bar and takes a seat. After getting a beer from Borgate, he relaxs after working in the forge for a few long hours. He notices the lute on the ground, but does not pay much attention to it. He just sits at the bar and watches what is going on around him.
Ashayen presses the door handle of the tavern down, enters and closes the door directly behind her, quietly. Her gaze appears somewhat sleepy, the long, black hair lightly dishevelled when she walks over to borgate with slow steps. She examines the lute on the ground with a raised brow, but doesn't care about it. Her gaze travels to the couple by the fire and her lips form a faint smile as she notices Eddy. Ashayen nods to the stranger at the bar and turns her face to borgate then. She leans closer to borgate, whispering some quiet words in his direction. Not long and she receives a bottle of mead from him and shoves some coins over the table as exchange. She examines the bottle before her gaze travels through the room.. she looks again to the two at the fireplace, this time for a longer moment. But Ashayen just shrugs with the shoulders and inhales deeply, before she nods to the stranger again, slowly approaching the door.
"Will we ever laugh together again? I don't even know if i will ever laugh again. Dorth, i messed up."
Dash looks at her for the first time in a week.
"If one of you people who I called 'friend' believed... if just one of you bastards had any faith... But whatever, if that's what you think I am, I will be that."
He smirks, on the verge of tears, "You want me to be a damn criminal!? That's what all of you two-faced 'friends' believe right!? Then what the hell, here comes the crimes!"
He seems about to get up or say more but does neither, instead looking back toward the fire.

Fianna takes brief notice of Braydar and the strange woman, nodding politely to them both, but keeps her attention on Lucky. Listening to him quietly, her grey eyes reflect both sympathy and regret. "I'm sorry you have been hurt by your friends...and I'm sorry for my part in that..." Her voice trails off as she struggles to find the right thing to say.
His hesitant movement causes her to turn her face slightly toward him. Watching him thoughtfully, as though he were a coiled snake about to spring, her open expression reveals that she has many questions she seems unable to ask.

Dash looks to Fianna with venom in his eyes, making eye contact.
"It's not only you, you spoke behind my back, the others just said it to my face." He notices her questioning look, "Well what do ya got to say!? You might as well tell me now."
"And what do you really think of me? Tell me the truth. Tell me no lies."

Fianna's nerve visibly falters under the weight of Lucky's stare and she drops her gaze to the ground, her face partly hidden by a veil of red hair. When she finally speaks, her voice is quiet but full of conviction. "I have no need to lie, Lucky. I have said nothing behind your back that you have not heard me say with your own ears. I like you, but I find it very difficult to trust you."
She slowly raises her gaze to the fire and sits quietly for a long time, lost in thought. She adds, seemingly as an after-thought, as though unaware she was actually giving voice to her thoughts, "I hope you prove me wrong."

Dash continues to stare at Fianna, looking into her eyes. "You see that lute?" Dash asks almost off handedly. "Did you know i am quite good? Did you know i sing? I bet you didn't, i bet you think i am some scoundrel that will end up dead or rotting in prison right? Dorth, i don't want to be untrustworthy anymore. I want to earn my honor. I want to be liked, i want to be trusted. Want to hear a song? It explains a bit more about me... music has always been the ONLY way i could express myself properly. What do you say?"
