Suggestions wanted: Psychic / mental buffs
For the bard magic concept, I could use some ideas for non-body-related-improvement-effects. Please try to stick to effects that are possible with the current possibilities. I am searching for stuff like:
Bravery - increases the willpower of the target for X minutes
Cowardice - lowers the willpower of the target for X minutes
Negative effects are wanted as well!

Just thoughts, feel free to mess with the titles. I thought that for bard magic things could be a little more music related or sound more like song titles.
Dragon Heart - increases the willpower of target for X minutes
Lions Roar - decreases the willpower of target for X minutes
The Breath of the Gods (Findari's Breath) - increases agility of target for X minutes
Sirens Song - decreases agility of target for X minutes
Lyrics of Life - increaces constitution of target for X minutes
Dance of Time - decreases constitution of target for X minutes
Fight of the Hawk - increases preception of target for X minutes
Blind Mans Lament - decreases preception of target for X minutes
Scribbles of Scribes - increases intelligence of target for X minutes
The Mages Revenge - decreases intelligence of target for X minutes
Theif's Waltz - increases dexterity of target for X minutes
Irmorow's Laughter - decreases dexterity of target for X minutes
The Warriors Call - increaces strength of targert for X minutes
Sirani's Flare - decreases strength of target for X minutes
The Sickman's Prayer - increaces essence of target for X minutes
Chegra's Draught - decreases esscence of target for X minutes
edit: spelling fixed (hopefully)

Jepp. But not in the way you might think... The plan is to (ab)use avatars for a certain effect.Korm Kormsen wrote:for bards???
I am merely searching for buffs that have nothing to do with the body of the target. The effects will be converted into something "bardish", I just need some more effect ideas first.
I have noted the "not being able to attack" effect and there seems to be a possibility to implement this.
@devs: Would this, embedded into a long time effect, make the char stop attacking everytime the effect is invoked? Or is it yet another brutal hack?
Code: Select all
if (character.attackmode) then
character.attackmode=false;
end

attackmode is read only. If you set it false it false the server will set it true pretty fast again.Estralis Seborian wrote:@devs: Would this, embedded into a long time effect, make the char stop attacking everytime the effect is invoked? Or is it yet another brutal hack?

about the stop attacking, won't it be like the "freeze" spell thing?
as for conjured creature... maybe some elementals? calling spirit with music? *shrugs*
regeneration: increase healing rate like potions by means of soothing song
degeneration: poison like damage to enemy - sort of irritating song? hehe...
meditation: increases mana regeneration
berserk: double damage or triple even but no defense at all - mad song?
calmness: raises parry and dodge chance
haste: raises hit rate
feint: raises success hits through enemy's defense
sleep: so the enemy will just stand there and do nothing for a while or until gets attacked - lullaby
swiftness: raises chance to dodge and hits from behind doesn't multiply the damage but can't attack (somewhat like when we hold 2 shields)
accuracy: less failures for crafters
precision: better chance to make better item (quality and condition)
creativity: boost experience
for the fighting buffs... probably only a few minutes... as for the non-fighting probably like 30 mins to 1 hour? *shrugs*
for the non-fighting buffs, it's probably something that a bard can use to make money.
for the naming.... i leave those to you guys... i'm not good with names... not to mention it's just some suggestions for the developers and GMs so they can get ideas what can be implement
edit:
mm... increasing magic power and magic defense... good as well i guess...

Nature´s Fiend - All nearby (only agressive) creatures attack the target
(If it was possible to make rabbits etc also attack would be awesome)
Madness - This song makes the target mad that s/he thinks that s/he cannot step on grass, snow, rocks, mud or streets, whatever fits.
Running Man - The target can´t stand still, s/he walks randomly around

How about making animals to dance around you?
Or letting them follow you for as long as you play a special song?
Or even "calling" animals, so that you just come running to you? but only the small once, that do not bite.

I think he was the last true druid! One of the old celtics!Juliana D'cheyne wrote:Pied Piper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pied_PiperJupiter wrote:The animal-thing sounds more like druids stuff...
Just a joke

But, why should we take this as an exampel? Illarion is an own world...
In MY opinion the animal-thing fits more druids.
( oh, and the pied piper clucked also children... should be bards in Illarion abel to do so also? )

Here's what I came up with...
Some of these are off the top of my head, so they may not be the most fitting example(s).
Courage - Increases the willpower of the target for X minutes.
Cowardice - Decreases the willpower of the target for X minutes.
Vigor - Increases the agility of the target for X minutes.
Lethargy - Decreases the agility of the target for X minutes.
Duability - Increases the constitution of the target for X minutes.
Frailty - Decreases the constitution of the target for X minutes.
Intuitivism - Increases the perception of the target for X minutes.
Deceptiveness - Decreases the perception of the target for X minutes.
Intuition - Increases the intelligence of the target for X minutes.
Ineptness - Decreases the intelligence of the target for X minutes.
Igenuity - Increases the dexterity of the target for X minutes.
Ineptitude - Decreases the dexterity of the target for X minutes.
Vitality - Increases the strength of the target for X minutes.
Debility - Decreases the strength of the target for X minutes.
Virtuality - Increases the essence of the target for X minutes.
Inanity - Decreases the essence of the target for X minutes.
I like the idea of making them more music-related (e.g. with song titles).
Maybe split them up, half song titles, half mental buff word usage.

I think the animal Idea is by far the best idea who wouldnt want to see little bunnies hopping around following a bard and then dancing circles around him when he stops.
since herbs and flowers can no longer be picked could a bard perhaps summon one to himself to give to a pretty lady when he plays. (guess they can still be bought from floro though *shrugs)
Couldnt there be a humours song that cause people around him that hear the song like a cold except instead of coughing: they #me belch, laugh uncontrollably, cry, begin to whistle for no reason, or any other funny #me's that you could come up with.
On that note since colds seem to be a permanent problem on Gobaith now what about a bard being able to cure the aliment with a song.
You spoke of summoning creatures, will these be illusionist tricks or real summoned creatures? If they arent real Bards could use them to tell a story in their song when he sings of a wolf he summons an illusion of one making everyone in awe
Also I dont know if it is to much like a mage but could a bard draw things to him like coins on a table when he plays a certain tune the notes literally carry the coins to him or whatever the audience gives him.

Jepp, illusionary monsters only. However, for the server, they will be real monsters with some modifications...
But back on topic, I am searching for songs that manipulate the psychical state of the target. In special, I am searching for non-directly-fight-related effects that do not require changes in other major scripts like the crafting, magic or fighting scripts. That's hard, I know.
Can anybody make up a nice berserker effect? Besides the usual "+X strength for y minutes, berserker attacks closest target, after X minutes the berserker is exhausted and suffers from -X strength"-type of D&D-stuff?
Edit: forced emotes are a good idea
