I have a newbie question

What is the tactics skill? what is it for? what is it's purpose?

It is basically your tactical knowledge of battle. It should train with your other melee skills though I have heard it has more to do with being hit on the side or the back.

Tactics is an amazing skill whether you know it or not. However, it does take some degree of Intelligence (characters int. not yours) in order to effectively train tactics. I have found yes it helps you being attacked from the sides and partially from the back (if they are lesser enemies without any tactics demon skeletons and even skeletons to a certain extent can still do massive damage) , but hay how good could anyone be if they are being attacked from behind. For me I have seen that tactics allows my character to take on multiple adversaries at one time. If you want to learn how to train tactics there is always the timeless answer ask around IG (not to say that you should go around yelling hey somebody teach me how to increase my tactics skil) Good Luck

Also....laut den Vorrednern soll die "Taktik"-Fähigkeit dazu dienen, sich besser gegen Angriffe von der Seite und von Hinten erwehren zu können. Somit kann jemand, dessen Wert in Taktik recht hoch ist problemlos mit vielen Angreifern aus verschiedenen Richtungen fertig werden. Ob's stimmt...wer weiß.

Achso, scheinbar soll die Intelligenz deines Characters ausschlaggebend zu dessen Levelanstieg sein.

Aber gut, dass die Frage mal gestellt wurde...hatte mir auch schon so Gedanken drüber gemacht

It also effects where on the other npc/pc's you strike, the better your tactics the more you strike weaker parts (e.g. head) Last I knew anyway.

It will go along with any weapons skills, even ranged, two of my chars got their first point of tactics using a bow.

so tactics has to do with if it says:
Scott Wolf:You layed a heavy blow to your enemy's Head/Legs/Chest.
cause some noob hunter was trying to rob me and that happened on the chest......and then there was blood splotches 9 tiles around where the guy died....yay some gore

Do i get a -tactics- favour if i stand on a table, my opponent on the floor?

..i get a -favour- if i stand in the shadow, my opponent in the light?

..et a -favour- if my three brutish compagnions attack my opponent, while i sneak close from behind?

..-favour- if my height is about three feet less then the one of my opponent?

..vour- if my opponent is RPed unconcious, and lying on the ground?

..after i hit the ogre in his right eye?

I guess we`ll never know.

What's wrong with asking what a skill is for? Illarion is a game before it is a roleplaying place. Knowing technical functions isnt really as satanic as people have always said it was
