I've been meaning to make this thread for a loooong time, but never really got around to doing it. The reason for this thread? Simple. People misunderstanding the definition of the word "smirk".
So many times have I seen such misuses as #me smirks kindly, #me smirks softly. No no no no no!
There's a character who I thought was either a nasty piece of work or hated my character for a whole year, before I found out that all the while he'd been happy.
I don't mind people misusing things like "grins" to mean "smiles", because they're much the same. But using "smirks" in a positive way is like someone saying "I hate you" to show their love for someone.

It is an arrogant, supercilious smile, suggesting that you are superior to the receiver in some way. IT IS NOT NICE.
Okay, there I said it. I hope to see less "kind smirking" ingame from now on.
Feel free to call me pedantic as well, but this is something that REALLY annoys me.
