Quest planer / Questplaner
I'd like to remind everyone that we have a tool available to announce quests on the "Who is online?" page. You may contact any GM to announce your quests, events, guild meetings and so on. Even if you don't think other players than those of your guild might be interested, it is still a good thing to announce events in case a GM wants to start a quest that might collide with your event. Also, new players might consider Illarion worth checking out when there are many events taking place.
Some events I heard of recently and are worth announcing:
-orc meeting
-magic lessons
-meeting of a secret thief guild
-market in Silverbrand

Re: Quest planer / Questplaner
Estralis Seborian wrote:I'd like to remind everyone that we have a tool available to announce quests on the "Who is online?" page.
-Orktreffen
-Unterrichtsstunden in Magie
-Treffen der geheimen Diebesgilde
-Markttag in Silberbrand.

1. Motivation: Neue Spieler sehen, dass "was abgeht" in Illarion.

I think the Lich Quest goes in line with the recommentdation Estralis just wrote above. Here a brief translation:
Especially Point 2 is IMO important. Over the weekend there actually were four Quests going on, only one of them promoted on the Quest Planer:
- Mass (announced)
- Lich
- meant to happen: Lady Meryadeles' trial
- Illness
Furthermore people can see when they should go IG to participate a Quest without having a deep look through all the Forums.

I want to remind you the aparent sense of the Questplaner:
1. Motivation: New people see what happens in Illarion and that Illarion is a lively world where things are going on. They can inform themselves about thigns happening without having installed the game.
2. Co-ordination: Other Guilds and GMs know that a Quest is planned/going on. They can adapt their plannigns to the current plannings. by doing so, double events are minimized.
At the moment the Questplaner is hardly used by anyone, least of all for long-term events. Everyone knows that during the Mas something will happen and there also are some dates for celebration days - why do we have such fix days, when nothing like that is implemented and used in the game, nor announced in the Questplanner?

Okay, let's get things straight about this desease:
* While symptoms (sneezing, coughing) are similar to what we call "a cold" IRL, it doesn't necessarily has to be an exact copy of this illness. It's an illarion-illness and it does not have a name unless you give it a name. If you consider to call it "cold", hold in mind that "illarion-cold" is not equal to "RL cold".
* The (RL) name "cold" is missleading, I suggest to read the corresponding wikipedia-article.
* The healing process is something that might involve "magic", you shouldn't always try to find analogous things IRL. You won't get cured from a RL cold by standing next to a RL fire. You won't cure Illa-cold by drinking RL tea. You won't cure RL cold by standing next to an Illa-fire. I guess you get the idea.
* This was a first test of how fast such an illness spreads itself over Illarion, there are several parameters to tweak (probability of getting infected when someone sneezes, distance zu someone who potentially infects you, time between sneezes, duration of the illness, duration of immunity, ...) and we just made rough guesses about those to observe how it will behave. Therefore, this illness has no real effect besides coughing and sneezing. Future illnesses WILL have effects, such as stats- and skill-losses, decreasing hitpoints and mana, ...
It was NOT a quest, it is just a new feature and this was a test for us to see how an illness behaves. We might need to perform another test eventually to find out more details. (It all depends on how many people are online at a time, how close they get, how often they meet, how long they stand next to eachother, ...).

Youre all hiding assumptions in your statements that are not necessarily true:
* Decreasing skills is not necessarily permanent.
* Decreasing skills does not necessarily affect EVERY skill (like language skills)
* An illness does not necessarily affect everyone online, as I mentioned before (and don't make me repeat my statements too often unless you want to make me angry), the "cold" was a test, new illnesses will have different parameters
* An illness does not necessarily infect all chars with the same chance, for example it could depend on some stats, skills, clothes, the location, what they eat and drink, their race, their sex, their age, weight or size or special items they wear and so on.
So please, you have to assume that you know about 1/20 of the technical background of a desease in Illarion, you don't have to think for us. Suggestions are welcome, but... well, that's about it.
