[RECONSIDER]Crafting (mainly tailoring)
mm.. due to lack of orders for mainly tailoring and the current usage of leathers for smithing and carpentry... Currently only mages uses leather armors or new fighters which means lack of orders for tailors.
Maybe make the tailors capable to make the inner-side of armors and straps for shields, just like how the handles and weapons works in smithing. This way tailors can actually make something that can be traded.
Probably some reinforced leather armors as well which smiths can provide the reinforced steel.
This way, tailors will actually be needed and there will be interaction between tailors to smiths and carpenters and vice versa. Which also will make the competition for leathers between profession to null.... since currently smiths will pretty much buy leathers in high price which tailors can't afford at all.
With this, i hope there will be more people doing tailoring as a real profession rather than just for selling items (mainly shoes) to NPC for living.
Just some suggestion that can be considered for the future... ^.^

I think that leather armor should be given a higher "dodge" ability. Not too much higher, but just enough to where some could actually use it for battle armor...and not just training armor. Some characters who have low constitution, but high agility would benefit from this. Not all people want to RP someone who wear armor...but there really isn't a good enough reason to wear leathers.
there is... for mages... it is way better than other armour and still protects you a bitLord Arcia wrote:I think that leather armor should be given a higher "dodge" ability. but it would be logical yes.
1vs1 strait up leather armor is just not as good as metal. I just wish I could find some tailors selling good clothes.
I suggested and made some graphics for padding needed for the production of armor. I think this is a good idea still. Leather straps are too in detail though and unrealistic I think, as strapping is very easy to make for oneself without anykind of training. Arming cap (for head) and gambeson (for body) are the most important padding I'd say.

Ogerawa, thank you for your proposal. As a quite experienced tailor I was able to make red greaves in the past. This was the first item somebody would have ordered (ok, sometimes I sell a dress or a robe, but thats minimal).
Now the things have changed again. The tailoring skill seems to be quite useless compared with the smiths skill. There is no market for the weak leather items a tailor can make compared with the smith's goods: swords, armord, helmets and so on.
I positively recognized that fur can be used now ... but who will need these items (fur trousers)?
Another kind of leather would be fine, e.g. dragon leather, which could be used to make good gloves, boots and armors, comparable with the steel items (of course a little bit weaker), but instead lightweight (increasing the players agility and chance to avoid hits) and protecting against magic.

The llama says:
1) Tailors will continue to be useless until paperdolling is implemented (if ever)
2) Different types of leather. Pigs are one things, alligators are another (they're tougher)
3) People take constitution damage when they stay too long outside and its raining (they feel sick), unless they're wearing enough
4) When you die you should be given a grey cloak, ghost style

i LOVE the dragon leather, and aligator idea. perhaps armor will make archers shoot bad, and they would need leather or cloth so as to not disturb the shot. where a mage would need cloth for their magic to work right. but the dragon leather idea is marvolous. well to a degree. the problem is that almost all tailors won't be able to afford it let alone craft it. one thing for these to take into consideration. if there was dragon leather, you should only need ONE for even the most complex things. lets face it. something 30 feet long and 15 foot waist should be able to cover something 6 feet long with a 3 foot waist.
There are dragons in game, and who says you take all of the dragons "leather" take a small bit of it, make it weight a lot and make it drop like 10 of them. It could also be like merinuim ore which I believe is still used in Magical Elven Silverteel armor. That armor I think is the last thing a smith can make. Perhaps do the same with with a dragonhide armor for a tailor.
If not, the silversteel is always an option for an archer. I don't know if it is light or just magicly enchanted so you can cast.

grob, no. this is comparing useing a bit of one, compared to 8 pigs. this is even when the average pig wieghs 300 lbs at least. needing eight for just one top piece of armor is alot. (full leather armor) no idea what it wieghs though. the other thing is, if i am using 8 pieces, how many times is it stacked up on top of itself, 3 or 4 i would say. so that means you have to cut threw 3 layers of thick hard leather to hit them. this would seem at least close to steel, in quality but durability would be less. but dragon armor because of the scales would be alot stronger, so the leather itself per square foot would be the same. but you would need alot less because dragon scales are almost always discride as hard as steel. so it should be equal to a medium or low piece of steel armor but not thick heavy armor. and fairies are magically stronger then they seem, as i have figured out, other wise i wouldn't be able to do anything in that game.
