What's the best Race/Class combination?

Post by Akira Kurayami »

I would like to become the strongest fighter in all the land. But in order to do that, I must start off at the strongest a character can start off as. So i would like to know, what is the best Race/Class class combo for:

1) Fighter
2) Thief
3) Paladin
4) Ranger

the best is to spend all your points, thus having in every ability like strength, willpower and so on maximum points !
So you will be the best warrior !

Yes I understand that, but what I'm asking is (for example) would a Orc Fighter be stronger than a Human Fighter

Fairy/Fighter, high Agility makes you impossible to get hit.
or
Fairy/Paladin, the additional Essences makes your 'Divine Bless' and your 'Divine Armor' much stronger.

The point of this game is roleplaying. If you come with the idea of wanting to make the strongest char ever, please don't even join in, you will be disliked.

Don't be selfish and wanting your char to be the best of all. Enjoy the roleplaying, interacting with other people (interacting doesn't mean Ctrl+clicking). Base your fun on the rp, not on how good your char is, and how many people he can beat, etc...

I know I'm new but before you blow your steam off into my face, realize the possibilities. You don't know how I RP, so maybe you should think "Hmm... maybe being strong sets into how he's going to play?" So get some wits before you match with me :x

The term you are looking for is called "Uberfighter".

I am afraid Gobiath is full of those at the moment, we don't serve your kind here.

Seriously, I have found that no Race is actually stronger than the others as far as the Raw components necessary to be a fighter (Str, Con, Agi). If you "Max" those stats without putting points to anything else, you will be frustrated later as other characters will be able to Craft better than you, Find Herbs better than you, Resist Magic better than you........and there are so many other examples. Especially as the systems change and the Game gets more 'enhancements', you'll be sorry you're "Just a fighter".

The best thing to do would be to spread points around to other stats, and RP the "Personality" you'd like to play, then have fun with it. That's the fun of this Game.

Become a warrior princess, a Goblin slave, an Evil Warlord, a Scottish Clansman, or even a nine-fingered, sausage eating, Merchant/Businessman/Diplomat? LOL.

Even the best fighters in the land, become bored with fighting and try other things.

I agree with Keikan. If played right, faeries are the best fighter race available.

Basically, all races can become quite good in fighting. The maximum attributes are not that relevant for the fighting system relies on many attributes, depending on the style of fighting.

However, the strongest weapon in Illarion is friendship...

Fairies?????

You're kidding, right?

They have a 4 strength!!! What are they going to do, nibble my bum?

EDIT: Not to mention that I have had Fairy Fighters "rejected" because they "Do not fit within the concept of fairies in Illarion".

well, why should he not make the strongest fighter?

he just has to pay the price.
make a char, where he puts the "relevant" fighter atributes as high as possible.
at the cost of some irrelevant things like perception and intelligence.
in a couple of real years that char will be the strongest fighter on the island.
the small setbacks won't hinder him!
others learn quicker. so what?
the char sees a wolf only, when he gets biten. so what?
he is poisened frequently by fruits, because he can't cook his own food. so what?
the char commits suicide, because the PO got bored of him. so what?

let him make a real tough fighter. the char will learn so slowly, that he won't be dangerous for the next year.
by that time, this new player either is gone again, or he has a second char, - a little better balanced.

I may be new on the forums, but I've been playing Illarion since 2003... I think testing something out for a bit is fairly reasonable...

Because in my opinion, an Orc Fighter with maxed fighter skills is the strongest. But I want to know others' opinions...

Welcome back, Akira.
Don't listen to the mean gentlemen, and don't share your cookies with them.
There isn't really a standard.. "best fighter stats". I mean, I've created many fighters, many crafters, etc.. they were all good equally, with different stats.

Now, I'm sure you know that fighters require the most strenght and constitution.
What I do is max out those two, then take one or two points of each, and whatever's left, I spread around accordingly. E.g: I don't put much essence.. I put some intelligence and willpower (So you can actually learn skills), some perception (not much), and the rest, well.. I spread around. Also try putting some dexterity and agility (For hits and dodging..)

Good luck, and if you still need help, feel free to ask, and ignore the flames ;]

'tis.

And you can get away with using 2 int cos every orc seems to be rped that way anyway.

With normal fighters it's like "Oh I have 3 int but I'm uber clev0r"

karl,

what about agility?
Karl

Post by Karl »

Yep, I edited after reading my reply too quickly ;)

But sometimes, Agility isn't required if you wish to play a brute-type of character;
Like a *run in the tavern, bash everyone to near-death, loot them and run* type of character.

Agl only affects running over rock, swamp etc. I thought.

Last I checked, agility allows you to dodge/parry better.

Anyways, I now head to shower, then to sleep.
Have a good night everyone! :]

alex, just go into your account, and try out the several standard combinations for the different "professions" that should give you an idea, what is for what.
(example, look at agility for archers)

Halflings will beat your orc any day.
Equip them with two shields, power up thier HEPT KEL and you won't even see your char arriving the next tile when you walk towards them.

But yes, go for the orc.

Place stats within Str Con mainly, then some within Dex, Agi, Per.

Dont worry about Int and WP the system seems bugged, im sure youll still be able to train. And dont fear about magic resistance, mages will kill you every time no matter your resistance :)

Only mages with really high skills and attributes can cause any damage at all. But then, they can become quite a threat. Every "normal" mage though has no chance against a fighter, except if he has good fighting skills and some good fighting attributes too. So it won't matter much if you make a mage or a fighter char. None of them will ever be "uber".
[/seriousness]

Well, of course there's always also the option of bribing. Note that bribing just one or two staff members will also not work because then other staff members will get angry that they were left out, and block all your characters permanently. So you always have to bribe the whole staff ! And not to forget the other players. They must get bribed too, since they would complain about your pushed character which would of course also lead to a ban of your account.
But since that could get quite expensive, you'd have to find another way. Well, there's always the option of sleeping with staff members. Note that sleeping just with one or two staff members will also not work because then other staff members will get angry that they were left out, and block all your characters permanently. So you always have to sleep with the whole staff ! And not to forget the other players. They must be slept with too, since they would complain about your pushed character which would of course also lead to a ban of your account.
:P

...tsk, uber characters...

I assume you mean essence, as resistance is pretty impossible to get.
