Dransik
I've noticed that I met a few fairly good roleplayers here that once played Dransik. I take it that it has some degree of roleplaying or was fairly entertaining. Can somebody tell me about what happened to drive them away?

I quit the game a long long time ago, before I started to play Illa, after that I've only checked the game few times since my friends still play it.
The vast majority of the inhabitants of that world act like bunch of morons.
Sure, PK-ing and Looting might be fun five minutes in day, but that's just about it.
Also it is almost impossible to become anything in the game without killing monsters.
Killing monsters A.K.A 'Exping' started to bore me quite quickly.
I wasn't quite satisfied with some of the development team's decidions.

I can give you a quick guide to becoming a "good" Dransik player, I do play the game still a bit atleast but I will most likley quit as soon as I can play Illarion. RP in Dransik to the extent that I have seen concists of, "What lvl art thou, duuude?" So no real RP there unless you have some friends you can RP with and if you do chances are it will just be ruined by other players. It is hack and slash your way to fortune, but in my opinion it can be pretty fun for awhile the game isnt that awful. Now to become a good strong player just go mine ore for about a week straight several hours a day and you should get a pretty high lvl. Then go and try to vulch (steal from monsters that others have killed, highly disliked but very common) a good sword that is magical. Now you must only use the sword because there are no other weapons that are any good, if you use any other weapon you can never compete or be any good at simple monster killing....
Now when you have a sword start killing monsters by the million wich will improve your combat skill with the sword, do this day in and day out for a month every day and several hours a day. Now you have a somewhat strong character and can fight big monsters easily, all you do is buy about 1000 potions that heals hp and click them as fast as you can while fighting. Now if you are lucky you get lots of magic items wich are good, or rather the best. There arent that many around so can get them all pretty fast, if you get something double you can sell it for huge amounts of money. Now if you get bored with all the monster fighting you can take your strong character and good weapons to go kill some poor noobs for awhile.
here you have it, you are now an expert dransik player hehe

I still play Dransik, but only because I know every role player there. The DEV team want to ecourage rp but thats a a lie, they do nothing to aid roleplayers, the dev's aim to comercialise the game asap to get money, they promised a role play only server two years ago, and it was supposed to be realesed about 1 1/2 years ago and they didn't, the dransik dev team have be one let down after another. If anyone wants to go there for RP your chances are slim and you have no choice cause the noobs kill rp's because they think they are totaly weak and easy to pick on, even with the realese of the vocation system, and magic system, rp was made harder not better, Dransik has been one let down after another.

after you people talking so much about Dransik i have started to test this game on M&M server... my impression so far is, that there are many "young" players that do not grasp the idea of rp fully. nevertheless i met some fairly nice people there who are "roleplaying" as best as is possible, since there are many people that do ooc talk mostly...
the idea of having so many monsters across the whole land gives me the impression that there are not so many player kills... and due to this "names_color_thing" you can see whom you should not talk to anyways. and besides... i kind of liked the idea of strolling bandids, that group all over dransik and kill and loot... if i recall it correctly it has been that way all over the german speaking countries in the medieval centuries - that was the reason why, when univerisities were founded, that students would group and improve their swordskills over the whole year before they would travel together back to their homes (mostly walking). in groups they were quite safe from bandids... i also liked that there are quite some npc´s around that give you major and minor quests, too. the lvling system is quite complicated, but it is quite near to what i had known from ad&d with the slight difference that one can gain a higher "over all" lvl by working as a miner or farmer or the like. actually this is very clever, since it should encourage people to do every days work and not bashing up little monsters... as an example... a major blow with my sword gives me 15 exp. points, farming gives me around 250 exp. points... so why fighting?
but yes... the community on dransik is much larger... more than 180 players on M&M server and when compared to illarion, it has not the rp quality. illarion is near enough a family of players - we do not know all of each others characters, but we are around 60(?) people here and it depends on when one choses to be online... i know mostly the native english speakers because i play in the wee hours...
"small" groups have their own rules like we do here and though i think those rules really good it is rather hard to make some 180 players follow them
especially when they are young and have not grasped the idea of rp fully... they are just playing an online game and as it is with games... one tries always to be among the best and one always tries to win - what a shame that there is no "champion" and no "winner" in an rp game

there are currently 914 approved charachters...
if we had only 60 players, that would make an average of 15.2 chars / player
so i guess you will agree that there are far more than 60 players
i can't tell you the number of approved players though...
but i guess the average number of chars/player is somewhere between 2-4...
which means 228-457 players...
don't count on that guess being correct though...

Dransik is a good game, Altho primarly based as a hack and slash you can make a good living as a farmer or smith or the like. The thing is...
there are say....5 people who role play in the game and they all left and play illarion
No but seriously...nobody in Draskin knows what RP'ing is.
Players would say: 'why r u talking like a old t**t' or 'ooh ur not 1 of those sad pepl are u?!' It just does not have the atmospher.

@Shi'voc:
you could be very right about this one... i was just assuming a number really... but i cannot believe that we have more than 200 different players here, since i never saw more than 45 people online... on the other hand... maybe there are around lets say 200, but only around 60 that are playing illarion constantly... whatever the cause... the illarion community is smaller than dransik community and therefore has the capability to keep a quite good rp level...
@Drathe:
i think you are a little bit exaggerating here... i would not say that there are only 3 good rp players there... maybe there are as many good rp players as here in illarion - the problem is that there are many more people there that do not rp at all. anyways... i will be testing that game for a little bit longer and try to get my OWN picture about it.
in this very moment there are 704 people playing Dransik.... i think you get the picture what i was talking about...

Could that be something to do with the time zones? Because I have played during the day with that number of people, and then there have been times I couldnt sleep and had been on sice about 2am and there have been different peope online and around 9 - 20 or so people ...i cannot believe that we have more than 200 different players here, since i never saw more than 45 people online

That would be the town guard. If they see fighting they will chase the person they see hit first, note, not who actually hit first. You dont have to worry about being sent to the prison island now, the sentence for fighting in town is death. As for role playing there is some. Mainly on the RP servers where there are fewer people and even fewer newcomers. The thing I like about Dransik is you get more reward for working, mining, farming, lumberjacking etc than you do for fighting monsters or each other. Still like Illarion though grovel grovel.
