Horses, Wolves, and even boats.
I was wondering.
Why don't we have things to ride, instead of walking everywhere?
If we have avatars, and they move a certain speed based on agility, and limited by terrain, why can't we have another avatar for when on a horse, wolf or even a boat (small one person boat)?
((Later one we can tackle things that carry more than one person, but not now))
Is it really that difficult, because it seems it would just involve duplicating the current Avatar code, and adding avatars for if a human is on a horse, boat, etc. It would move the same way we control them now, with added speed, and limited by terrain as well. Maybe even only certain races using certain things like Humans, Elves and Lizards on Horses, Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes on sheep, pigs or maybe even a donkey, and Orcs and Goblins on Wolves or Panthers. Boats used by all races, except lizards, who should be able to walk on water anyway.
As for Transitioning from Avatar to 'Transport Avatar' could be done with an Icon of a Horse, Boat, wolf, etc. (like a 'rune' or Key) 'used' in the hand next to the item, like a boat, horse or Wolf in game and it changes your Avatar from one to the other.
I believe this would add a lot to the game.
How hard would this be to do Technically speaking?
Thanks.

Wouldn't horses just work by giving the person who is riding the maximum speed over difficult terrain + some additional benefits (for instance to combat abilities..) ?
We could probably use just two sets of "mounted" graphics too, for starters anyway. One generic female/male, with perhaps an additional prefix for non-human races to ease identification. Like "Orc Someone 123456789" with male rider graphic.

Nitram,

Gobiath isn't very large and introducing mounts would shrink it even more. That's why I'm against it even though I like the idea. I would even suggest to remove the travel books for the same reason and leave the portals for mages only.
The idea with the boat is nice and I like the model but do we really do not have more urgent things to solve, like the druid and the crafting system? And if I take a look at the bug report list I wonder if it wouldn't be better to work on the current game issues instead of introducing new features.

But that would be an awesome way of taking money out of the game economy.. If you don't believe me, then please see WoW for more clarification.Pia Dandelion wrote:Gobiath isn't very large and introducing mounts would shrink it even more. Well, the 'current' game issues have been concepted, proposed and planned way back as well. I don't see why planning 'future' issues would be somehow away from current development..
