Getting started

Post by Cryora »

It seems the shops don't always have the necessary tools that you need for certain tasks. In this game, are you supposed to learn a trade and get your tools from other players? Or am I not looking hard enough for the right shops?

Both questions are correct  You can buy most every set of tools you need from the merchants ((NPCs)) but you must look hard. My suggestion is that you ask IG where you can find the tools you need. Most players unless extremely busy will help you. Really the best thing to do if you have questions unless its ((OOC)) is to ask IG. If you would like my character Eli to help you just click Private Message right below my post and he would be happy to show you where you can get the proper tools from.

First of all, let me welcome you to the world of Illarion. You may try and flee before we consume your soul and have your spirit our slave for eternity
No just kidding, I'd just like to warn you, before helping your inquiry, that this game is roleplay-enforced, which you probably noticed.
So basically, instead of asking around on the forums, it's much, much more fun to ask around in the game!
As long as your character is friendly and doesn't like to poke people with his butter knife, he will get help!

Getting tools for your character shouldn't be much trouble, as I said, ask around, and other characters will either give/sell you tools, or guide you to merchants that sell them!

Good luck, and if you've got another question, shoot! But make sure you asked in game, in a roleplay fashion first ;)

In upcoming changes, it might get implemented that traders have all tools necessary for one or more crafts. So, if you want to start tailoring, you can buy all tools from Morgan in the shop and don't have to run to Gambi to buy those scissors you need...

But there are currently other tasks, much more important.

Yeah... I used to play this game during 2000 and stopped. Then in 2005 I decided to come back and created an account, but didn't play more than a couple of hours. Now it's 2007 and I'm using this account created during 2005 and a newbie since things have changed so much!

Back in the turning of the millenium, you could buy a shovel and hammer from an NPC, powermine/forge, and from there make all the tools you need for other trades. Coming back, I had a feeling that the developers might have made it harder to become a master of all trades, perhaps even requiring new players to interact with older players in order to acquire the tools they need.

By the way, it's Cryora, not Cyrora, but no big deal.
