Strange Ocurrance - very strange indeed

I was out killing insects.  I can always kill them in 3 hept kels easy.  Then 2 insects appeared.  3 hept kels and they were still flapping!  The second group same thing!  It kept happening until i left.  My skill did not drop at all, in fact it was slightly higher!
