Lag, or just me?

Post by Kiilii Zaltana »

As Jenz and Calenleia from tonight can confirm, my computer is not happy when I try to run Illarion... it's acting like it's lag, but my computer might just be crappy.

System info:
MS Windows XP Service Pack 2, 5.1.2600
Processor: ~1296 Mhz
Total physical memory: 128 MB
Total virtual memory: 2 GB
Page file: 915.5 MB
Graphics card: NVIDIA Riva TNT2 Model 64

This computer is pretty much in its stock, 6-year-old configuration, aside from Windows XP (originally was Millenium Edition).

Illa won't run right, even though I've dropped the colors to 16, the frame rate to 14, and graphics quality to Reduced.

Do I just need to upgrade like crazy/ get a new computer, or is there something I can do to get Illa to run right?

:( Help! :(

I am not sure that this is your problem however your graphic card if fairly old and I don't think it is supported anymore on NVIDIA. If you can't find anything else that works, you may want to try installing a new graphic card with extra memory.

This may not help at all, but talks of a game patch which you may already have.

Set the colors back to 32. Except for certain systems (mostly unix and linux systems if I recall correctly) 16 colors is actually *slower* than 32.

Also, you might try dropping the frame rate on down to the minimum (8 I believe).

Other than that, I can't help too much.

You are running WinXP on a system with very little RAM.
WinXP probably already uses up every little bit of your RAM leaving all other applications with the slow virtual memory (your harddisk).

I am actually suprised XP is really running on that PC at all.
