I lost over an INCH of my mining skill over night.
i went from mining.....(the last dot is where the bar was)
to minIing(the second I is where the bar is)
from when i logged off last night to when i looked at it this morning. ive heard that skills decay as you age but this is RIDICLOUS!

I completely sympaphize (spelled right?
) with you and understand. I can't explain it though. The only thing i can ask is, did you die recently? Also, even though "you are supposed to play only to be your character," Couldn't you just do that on a text-based game? In real life, if you woke up one day and forgot how to, say... how to use a computer
, wouldn't you be mad? I mean, it doesn't matter, right?

What probably happened:
You had died the other day, but your skills did not reflect the lower skills. This seems to be a client issue, where when you acutally loose a lot of skill it just reflects a little loss.
When you log off and back in it reflects your true skill level.
Happened to my char once too. Not sure what causes this.

I suppose it was just a client side illusion that i didnt loose all that skill. But even then 10+ hours of work is a bit harsh to loose over a death or two.
Belegi you are right, I do agree that this game isnt about power gaming or having the most skill ect. But craft skills and battle skills are part of the game. If you want your character to be a warrior or a mage they need to fight in the field, and somehow make cash and goods for them to be able to do that. If you want your character to have a house, or a social status you need to have ignots to do so. If you want to start trouble, or stop it you need to have something to back up your words. If you want to be helpful its a good idea to be able to help with more than just knowlegde.
